I absolutely love this mini challenge. I have been cleaning out my desk. I noticed I had a bunch of supplies that I am never going to use. And luckily, I have a client that is a vice-principal of an elementary school, so these will be going directly to her to hand out.

My nieces husband is a math teacher and I took all of my overflow of pens and pencils and created "boxes" for his classroom. This way, the items are available to the students without question. ❤

Every year, I buy my grandsons some school supplies! I, also, buy pencils, folders, and paper (both notebook and cooy) and carry to my local elementary school. I, usually, buy packages of underwear and socks for pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade as it is always needed!

I am going to take inventory of what I already have before purchasing school supplies for my daughter. I love the donation idea and I have always wanted to be in a position where I can pay off overdue lunch accounts at a school.

We dropped off those items at our school board and Jason asked about lunches. She said the homeless kids are paid for - so that’s good The other kids typically are silent. Like- no one even knows they are hungry. I was one of those kids on some days. I wish I could take care of everyone. 💛

My grandkids aren't old enough for school yet, so I am contributing to my great nephew's school supply purchases for Kindergarten. Young family with 3 kids 5yo and under. The youngest is coming home today after a month and a half in the NICU after being born at 32 weeks gestation. Praise the Lord for modern medicine and miracles.

Happy Hump Day Jenn and chat. I love watching cash condensing/bill exchange videos. I will be doing this week’s challenge. We’re empty nesters but every year we buy uniforms and school supplies for our grandchildren. We buy school supplies in bulk for the full school year. We also supplies for each child’s classroom (Kleenex, Lysol wipes, paper towels and sanitizer for each grandchild’s classroom, etc).

I will be donating supplies to local schools. I will be making calls tomorrow. Last year I had my co workers that were starting college who didn't have the funds, go "shopping" in my big tote of supplies. They cleaned me out.

Many teachers have a wishlist of items for the class such as Kleenex, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, and other items that would be used by all students. I purchase these items and send them in. I decided to give my 14-year-old a budget for school clothes. I am interested to see how he does.

I read that on one of the blogs to do what you are doing. Give kids used items- and if they don’t want to use those things, give them a budget and tell them they can keep what they don’t spend. ( rules apply, of course) and see how good those used items look now! 😂

I live in NE Texas and our local Christian Radio Station does a shoe drive for new shoes and school supplies. So many organizations helping out these kiddos. I'm with you and Jason, I'll be donating to help those families. I'm an empty-nester and remember the stress as a single mom those shopping days.

Same here! I only had one and it was hard! She went to a private school so it was tuition, aftercare, expensive lunches, books, uniforms, special events - it was so hard but it was important that she went to a Christian school. 💛

🎉I have 4 semesters left so I will be purchasing my school year things and taking advantage of great deals to donate. Our Chuch does a 'fill the backpacks" program. Last few years, we have "adopted" a new teacher at one of the elementary schools. I get her school supplies list and hit the sales. Then once a month make a "treat bag of goodies" and drop them off. Paper towels, hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes are the best go to supplies for a classroom and those dry erase markers. Just in case you looking for something to donate!

I like the goodie bags throughout the year idea, too! After Back to School - I think they go back to being on their own with supplies. I’ll definitely do more for teachers/ kids in our area. 💛

I can’t even tell you how happy I am that I found your channel. You are real, raw, and over the past couple of months since I subscribed over NEVER had this much cash in my savings!! I have a small hidden safe in my home because I don’t want to put it in the bank. But that makes me nervous if my home were to get broken into it would all be gone. Any thoughts? I’m glad to hear this!! 💛 I keep a majority in the bank - I didn’t use to when I first started because I probably would have spent it. I’ve been doing it long enough now that my behavior has actually changed and I trust myself now. I have to say that ( in regards to your home) only you know your situation. If you feel that there is a chance of being burglarized, make adjustments with the way you save. I have made a lot of changes since my recent move.

I didn’t get a chance to see this Wednesday but what a fantastic challenge; I cleaned out my office supplies and gifted pens and highlighters to my granddaughters before seeing this video. Adopting a classroom would be a great way to use my savings boosters (HH & Wordle) to support every other month.

My "baby" will be a HS senior this year!! This will be our last year doing the back-to-school shopping. 😢 Your mini challenge this week will be a breeze for me since I already do it every school year. I come from a large family and my dad was a teacher for over 50 years before he retired. Every year, at the end of the year, he had bins for his students to put any unwanted school supplies into for him to have for the new students the following year. My mom had us kids do the same thing at home. Luckily I kept up this habit with my own kids, so it made things a little easier when the new school year started. My daughter still needs a few things, and we can pick them up during our tax free weekend this weekend.

Great video. I bought a lot of supplies last year. My dad buys her a pair of shoes for the 1st day of school or in the middle of school.. I don’t have to buy any school supplies but a new bookbag.

I have 2 in school that i need to buy for, but im in the UK, and it seems like our back to school shopping is a lot less expensive than the US! However, i will be checking to see what supplies we already have and reusing what can be. I already know off the top of my head that i have a ton of pens, pencils and water bottles that i wont need to repurchase! Good luck everyone! 😊

I agree the cost here seems very high. I don’t remember spending quite that much, either. My youngest is only 21 so it’s not like it’s been that long. I will say- I saw an 8th grader on YT that was showing her “backpack haul” and she had a “colored theme” for the year so maybe these kids are a bit over the top with their supplies. 😂

I took everything today to the school board. It felt good to help out a little. The young lady that deals with the homeless children let us know about all the different things they do throughout the year to make sure those kids don’t feel left out. I gave her my contact info- Jason and I love to help with kids. Anything they need- we are there! 💛

I forgot to share with the Hive how I did with the No Spend Challenge last week. I did have 2 spends 😢. On a victory, I only had 11 spends for the whole month. When I started No Spend, May had 22 and June had 20. It's very eye opening to see the balance each month of impulse buys. Small amounts add up big. July was less than half of May and June. To see the numbers, 😱. I could have had multiple sinking funds fully funded. August is a new month and I can do better!

Sure- I use the lending club. There are so many to choose from. Just make sure you look at minimum balance requirements, atm fees, monthly fees, etc They are all different.

No- it’s after my bills have been paid. I take what is left after bills and give every dollar a place to go. That way - nothing is being spent on anything impulsive or unplanned. Keeps me accountable.
