I haven't watched the video yet, but all I want to say is thank you so much for sharing this research with youtube/for ppl outside of academia to better understand. I have suspected of having adhd since highschool but both my parents didn't trust therapist and got scared off by the medications... their lack of understanding at the time and anxiety around it prevented me from at least getting an eval for adhd. I'm an adult now... so I'm trying to seek these thing out on my own now. Your content helped clear up the worries and anxieties my parents tried to put into me about getting mental health support. Maybe nothing is wrong with me! But I just want the peace of mind now. Also my bf has adhd and it brings me more peace to read and listen to this content.

Once when hunting bear I caught a hare in a hole in the flowers, stripped the hair, and my maid fried him up whole in flour with ale poured over and we ate it with a pair of pears. Tasted fine, but I was mourning that choice when it made my stomach ail till eight in the morning. (The things you hear here.)

Professor Barkley, if you want to increase the channel reach have you considered appearing on some of the other ADHD channels again or otherwise cross promoting? I know there are some older videos where you spoke to various people in the community. Jessica McCabe is taking some time off from "How to ADHD" post pregnancy, but cites you in her book a few times, J. Russell Ramsay has mentioned people meeting him and having to be "the other Russell," Dr. Tamara Rosier absolutely beamed when talking about you . . . I could go on and on, but essentially since you are trying to solidify your achievements in this pseudo retirement, why not mutually highlight the good media in this generation? I love how you separate the wheat from the chaff to highlight those you agree with while pushing back against the problematic (Peterson and Maté, notably). I wonder what a conversation between you and Temple Grandin would involve? I'm sure there are also some you agree with in part and radically disagree with otherwise - Hallowell perhaps. Huberman, for example, now has a great reach, and you could speak to on a professor to professor level, while there are many many tik-tok celebrities that are a mix of the good and the bad. And when a group like APSARD talks about it, they only note the bad, while you and I both know that doctors are also painfully undertrained, particularly if they got their license ten, twenty, or thirty years ago. I heard people speak again and again about bad media, but there is plenty of good media they can point their clients too, but they are afraid of losing control. On a related not, I found McCabe's recent book "How to ADHD" she just released to actually be really good in taking the research and translating it to the individual experience. Just a thought. Like many, I love the work you are doing, even if you just keep up with the weekly research updates, things are grand!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will keep them in mind. But I don't want this to turn into a job as I am having fun now with the few hours each week I dedicate to creating the videos and research reviews. Yet highlighting other good sites would be a fine idea. Thanks and be well.

@@russellbarkleyphd2023 understood. Invest exactly as much as you see as appropriate - we the KZbin audience are getting more time in your "retirement" than beforehand, and I just like seeing the message spread.

What about children with both ADHD and autism? It seems like sometimes these 2 balance each other. Of course this is not a scientific fact, just an opinion.
