Week 105: Eurovision Week 6! #2 - We Are Domi - Lights Off

The 2022 stage is known as one of the worst stages in the Eurovision community, mainly because of the "SUN OF DEATH" thats seen in the back of the stage. It was originally meant to turn its multiple arches during the performances, but they couldn't get it to work probably, so in the end they decided to keep it still for all performances except for the interval acts. So it was dubbed "SUN OF DEATH" since its just this black half-sun sitting behind the performers at all times, covering up the LED in the back, even ruining many of the original staging concepts! People were pissed! 😆

Random fun fact if y'all are Ice Hockey fans, Domi is the daughter of "The Dominator" Dominik Hašek. Freaking loved this song, and I hated that it had to open the final. Running order matters massively, and coming early will ruin your placement.

This was one of my favourite from 2022, it didn't do as well but its such a bop. What alot of people dont realise is how much the performers have to do leading up to live shows, the main singer I believe was dealing with a sore throat.

Regarding the specific meaning of the song, the lead singer said she likes to keep that to herself. They did share though that the song is a call out for someone that is really close, but sort of far, and about picking yourself up from a difficult situation. As for the David, no idea other than it's impactful imagery and the contest was in Italy.

The effect you talk about at 7.10 is called "dolly zoom", first experimented in cinematography by Alfred Hitchcock in "Vertigo", and it works exactly in the way you describe it. It is used to give a feeling of unreality or to represent fear or vertigo... It's been used in many other success movies, like "Jaws" for instance...
