I hope you continue to make videos and grow your following… There’s a lot of interest in Aviation out there… I’m doing my solo TOL today at ATP Clearwater… Super excited. I’m 37 today and I was 12 years old when I first dreamed a flying… Can’t believe this is happening.

I'm I. ATP right now, and the evals are definitely stressful. Just did my 1st eval for told and the winds are at 9 gusting 19. Got switched runways and gaaaaaahd damn it was STRESSFUL.

Great videos! I myself am a private pilot and my daughter is mid way through her PPL training. We are looking into ATP for her and are very interested in the “day in the life of” ATP students. Everyone talks about how fast paced it is and that you have to study. Could you include in an up coming video just what exactly the day in the life is like? Do you have study groups? How easy is it to set up simulators after hours to use to practice? Are there instructors available in the office to ask for clarification on a topic your study group is going over? How accessible (if at all) are instructors if a student is having a difficult time understanding a topic/regulation etc? Appreciate the videos and look forward to more content!
@thatpilotluke3 ай бұрын
@@didja691 I will try to make one of those videos soon! There are usually students at the center that you can study with or coordinate study sessions with. Simulator availability changes every week but typically there is availability early morning and late evening. Also depends on the location and number of simulators Instructors are walking around and you can stop and ask any of them any questions and they're almost always happy to help. And a lot of it just depends on how willing your instructor is to help you with ground knowledge. Mine is pretty much willing to do a ground whenever I need it. Not a great answer but totally depends on your instructor. Most are pretty good. Thanks for watching!

Ahh solo cross country, honestly my least favorite part of ATP. Corporate was very inflexible on what airports we could fly to. When we did the eval, both my instructor and I were very uncomfortable with that airport. But for my solo, hey that was what corporate said, so I had to go there and only there. A few months later, guess they had an incident or a safety review and it suddenly became a prohibited airport instructor or not.....
@thatpilotluke2 ай бұрын
@@alanpastreck2303 wow! Do you care if I ask what airport it was and why they decided to prohibit it? And yeah it is tough with how stringent they are but I can understand why they make it that way when they're trying to manage thousands of students/instructors. Would be fun to have a little more freedom
@alanpastreck23032 ай бұрын
@@thatpilotluke This was several years ago, so not sure if it is still in the current policy but it was KVNC Venice, FL. Very high traffic volume for an uncontrolled airport with converging runways.

So you’ve started instrument, but you are just now starting to build solo XC hours. For PPL isn’t XC time required? Apologies if this is a silly question but I’m confused. Are the reqs different for ATP school?
@thatpilotluke2 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question. I'll preface this better next video. The weekly updates are me just recounting my experience from a month or two ago. So I'm filming right now just talking about a month or two ago

Just remember that you have been properly trained!! Sounds dumb but just know you're ready. I would also say try to memorize as many checklists (especially emergency ones) so you can feel confident and know what to do in all situations. Good luck!
