Interesting. You mentioned a power off 180, but that’s not part of the private acs. That’s a commercial maneuver. Maybe meant to mean a power off landing in a simulated engine failure? Sounds like you’re moving pretty fast. I’m about the same timeline as you disco flight was April 14. I’m in solo cross country. After that it’s checkride prep. I’ll probably take the Checkride next month sometime. Paying as I go at a mom and pop shop since I saved. Looked at ATP but they said I couldn’t work and had to take out an absurd loan. Props to you for taking that risk. It’s a journey!

I have to do a power off 180.

Love it good luck man! Luckily I didn't have to take out a loan and I am paying as I go too but it has been good so far. Good luck with the rest of your training!

Do you take DPE check ride on your private? Or only in house check ride?

Are you required to wear your glasses when flying?
@KimWentworth-y8e6 ай бұрын
It is a big test. The oral is 4 hours long in the private pilot check-ride and they do not allow you to look up anything in your tabbed FAR-AIM. They may allow you to look up one answer. Know everything you tabbed in the FAR-AIM by memory. The flying portion is about 2.5 yours. It's a very difficult test.
@thatpilotluke6 ай бұрын
For me the oral was under 2 hours and the flight was under 2.5 as well. It was a hard test but it is allowed to use the FAR/AIM during your checkride. There aren't any rules about how many times you can use it but if you have to use it a lot, then that will tell the DPE that you aren't prepared, but you can use it!

@@thatpilotluke My oral was 4 hours and I was not allowed to use the FAR-AIM for not even one answer.

@@KimWentworth-y8e wow that is crazy. From my understanding it isn't anywhere in thenACS that says you can't use the far aim. I could be wrong though. Congrats if you passed though!

@@thatpilotlukepersonally what was important to my dpe was that I was very familiar with the far and could quickly find things. Also my oral was less than 2 hours and practical was 1.3 hours. Every dpe is different I guess.

Did you have to get a degree? And will you need one for commercial flying?
@thatpilotluke6 ай бұрын
As of right now I think most airlines don't require a degree. Not a bad idea to get on though. I'm planning on finishing an online degree once I'm flying at a regional.

What’s the scoop on ATP for every good thing about them I hear a bad thing about them… it’s really hard to judge based off everything I see and hear. Anyone who went or goes to ATP wanna give me a scoop?
@thatpilotluke6 ай бұрын
Yeah there are a lot of good things about ATP and there a lot of things that people/students don't like. After having been at ATP for a couple months now, I feel like it totally varies from person to person and everyone has a different experience and different opinions.
