Hi Jason, Thanks for watching and your feed back. Its a roller coaster ride for an accountant making YT videos. Am constantly working to improve the videos, but it is a slow process. This is a step in the right direction, but have still a lot to do to achieve my ideal videos. I hope to make further improvements in the coming months. Best wishes Iqbal

Thank you for watching and commenting. The Weeping Willows are extremely easy to grow and care for, all they need is watering as described in my willow videos and Pruning. These Willows did very well and the trunks had turned narly dark colour, looking like the trunks of large willow trees. Except for one very young willow all have been sold. I wouldn't bore you with the details, I was off YT for long time. I have returned and started uploading new videos. Thus far I have uploaded two and a third one is being worked on. I am back making and uploading videos, please do subscribe to watch my new videos.

Hey Jay, Thanks for the warm welcome. See the description box below the Yew tree video where I explained what I went through in the past year. Slowly getting back into my bonsai work and videos. Its very time consuming and at times very disheartening that not enough people share my videos. It would help me enormously if you and other would share the videos as you watch them. ITs not much to ask in return for the time and effort I put in. I do hope you do not mind me asking you. Best wishes Iqbal

I only got interested in bonsai late this year. I have no interest in simply *buying* something which a grower has imported or grown himself. I'm less interested in the finished product than the science of growing something myself. I plan to do exactly this and also air layer some of the things I can find on my own land or in the local area. ~I am so pleased I discovered your videos and will be binge watching them over the weekend.

Hello Karin, Great to have you here. I planted my cuttings in cat litter. The pruned branches I cut up and stuck them in water and they are rooting like crazy, these I intent to plant them in Grit, I may add bit of pine bark, but not decided yet. These cuttings will grow in pretty much any soil as long as the pot is placed in a bowl or tray of water. Keep us updated with pics on fb in mikbonsai group. All the best Iqbal

Thank you for your feed back, am striving to improve the videos over the coming months, for me it is a slow process unlike my friend Nigel, his day job working with multimedia. Why you didn't work at the top part at first? It make the work easier, I always do this way
@mikbonsai5 жыл бұрын
I like to work from bottom up. I decide on the length of the first branch and work up reducing the upper branches and keeping in proportion to the lower ones. As I work my way up, the upper branches are kept slightly smaller than the lower ones. There is not right or wrong way. You could start from the top and work down. I work from bottom to top as that is what I was taught in my bonsai lessons and am used to it. I hope that makes sense. All the best Iqbal

@@mikbonsai but wait, I was misunterstood by you. I meant to work at first to the branches, and then to the roots - by top part I meant the aerial part, and the bottom part - the roots ☺

is there something to do with canker on willows or it's just a slow death???
@mikbonsai5 жыл бұрын
This is my first attempt to bonsai willow trees from branch cuttings, These trees have been on the go for a number of years now. I have checked canker images and so far could not see any similarities. However, you could be right only time will tell. I will start keeping a close eye on these trees and also enhance care and maintenance. Looks like you may have spotted something I haven't, time will tell. I will do future updates. Thank you for alerting me of the problem. Cheers Iqbal

@@mikbonsai I've red it propagate by spores and so far I've never seen any weeping willows without canker. For older trees they seem to survive with it, but I'm loosing some of my cuttings right now. I'll try taking very young shoots and isolate them to see what happens...
