When I was in Scotland I was too overwhelmed with excitement to much. So, I visited the Co-op nearly every day for 2 weeks and just popped a sandwich into my bag to eat whenever I felt the need. I loved it so much and truly miss the convenience of it. Our convenience stores are dodgy when it comes to food.

I realy like when you get out and show what normal people do in an average life in Scotland. I see videos on the countryside, and tourist sites, and how we are different, but you rarely see stuff showing what it is like to just be a person living there. Granted, I am way older than you and "normal" may be different for me than it is for a pretty young lass like yourself, but you do a great job presenting and I would love to see your take on it.

I'm going to be that person. "Eating out" anything without "from" or "at" preceding the place in question in American slang means something far different than it does for Scottish people. The video's lovely and I'm glad to see your spark is back. You simply managed to dub this video "giving cunnilingus Scottish convenient stores." The sushi cannot be that good. ;)

Great to see/hear you! 👀👂 The times I have visited Scotland, lunch was most often convenience store foods and dinner was restaurant-esque... like a chippie, a small café or full blown eating out, knives and forks and glasses of water/wine 😃 I'm good with any content...travels, food, games, sights, shite-talking, shopping...you name it, I'm there for it! I love an expensive Pink Lady, too 😉 hello from Denmark 🌸 🌱

Hahah damn all the ham is in the front 😂 when I went to Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪 last month I went to the convenience shops ( Londis and Spar ) for grab and go lunch stuff and saved my Euros 💶 for the expensive suppers at night at the pubs. 👍 I did splurge for a full Irish breakfast one morning, though. The UK isn't the only place you get lopsided sandwiches. Our 7-11 convenience stores do the same thing, everything upfront. I agree with you on the Pink Ladies, but they are hard to find in the Pacific Northwest of the US. Thanks for the videos, I like seeing Scotland from your viewpoint.

I think what you're calling a convenience store, like the co-op, are closer to what we used to have called "General Stores". They sold a bit of everything, including groceries, but they're closer to a small grocery store with hardware, than a convenience store. Most are gone, because they've been replaced with the convenience stores, usually part of a gas station, and have a very limited selection of pretty much everything. (And the mega- grocery stores) Usually the only hot food is hot dogs, and cold sandwiches you can put in a microwave.

I'll be going to a Renaissance Festival in a month or so. They try to organize the shoppes and taverns by theme, but the places really bleed over into one another willy-nilly. Recommend some authentic historical period-appropriate Scottish food and brews for me to be on the lookout for. I'm more of a shepherd's pie sort of guy than a haggis hooligan. I rocked a beard and kilt last time and got pounced upon right inside the front gate and was invited to the Highland Games, but me back said that didn't seem like such a good idea. It still do nae.

Pink lady, honey crisp, and gala are some pretty good eating apples. That hot scotch pie reminds me of a small version of this French meat pie I'll sometimes buy at this small grocery store in my area. Definitely learned that these pies need the brown beef gravy.

I like taking the pie and loading the top with mashed potatoes and gravy. Been a long time since I've had one (my granny used to make them when I was a kid). I looked up a recipe and it calls for mutton but she always used beef because we raised cattle and not sheep. We would load them up and eat them while working the cattle during the day when I was out of school.

The Pink Lady is a great apple. I agree. Here in the US, the Gala is a lot like the Pink Lady. The PL was developed in 1973 by Australian John Cripp; so some know it as the Cripp apple. The Gala and the PL have very similar structures, tastes, etc. While in Scotland I always hit up the Co-Op and I try to find the best bargains, but I did have to laugh that the sandwiches are found out in the open,. The thing to remember is that the arrive about 7:00 a.m. so they're not out that long; still, here in the U.S. you'll have people screaming for a 50% discount if it's not cold.

In the US we have around 10 or so different apples that I can think of off the top of my head. If you like apples, try getting one of every apple available, cut them up into small pieces and place into a large bowl, then cover with plastic wrap and shake well and place in the fridge for 24-28 hours. The juices and flavors mix really well together.

Humm Pink lady apples! I use to love the granny smith and still do but the do tend to be sourer. What kinda off apple do I recommend? Well the honey crisp are good, but I recommend any type of apple that hasn't gone bad. They are all good! Change it up and eat different apples. I done Convenient Stores eating but in L A they can be pricey something. I know the ones at gas, petrol, station are not cheap. Although the one by my work did have Irn-Bru before so that was interesting, but since I don't drink sodas, fizzy drinks, I had to pass it up. Great video. Love it as always.

I love your videos! Kinda surprised you didn't know that Granny Smith apples are baking apples. They tend to be more tart (sour) so that when you add the sugar for apple pies and such, it's not overwhelmingly sweet. Red and Golden Delicious are two of my favorite sweet eating apples. Now, I've gotta try Scotch Pies! Sounds great, and also sounds kinda easy to make??? Guess I'll find out. Keep having fun!

We returned quite a few times to the local Fish & Chips Shop and tried almost everything on their menu. Fresh fish, sooo good, fantastic eating. We' even got pizza from the take-away. Of course you can't go to Scotland without trying the Haggis. I was fortunate enough to get the best directly from the bakery in Dingwall... I love haggis. But yes the food at the local Co-Op is great. You can't go without trying the sausage rolls and the Scottish meat pies. I also really liked their fresh coffee and returned a couple times a just to get my Pseudo-Timmies fix. I'm racking my brain trying to remember the brand, they're very popular in Scotland and found everywhere. And Mrs Tilly's Tablet ..... OMG, Scotland's best kept secret. We ate so much while we were there and even bought an entire carton to bring back to Canada. And of course Scottish mints, we always kept a bag in the car to suck on as we toured the country. Irn Bru... Does it have meth in it... LOL You people are addicted to that stuff I never tried it personally but I know our kids were drinking it while we were there and they liked it. We did just buy 4 bottles at a somewhat local Scottish shop for $3.49 each, (Canadian), $3.94 with tax, or £2.27, so I'm going to be trying it myself very soon. I love Scotland. Can't wait to go back some day.

It could also be that they're mass-producing the sandwiches, and it takes time to spread the meat out. It looks like they throw the measured amount of meat in the middle, then cut it. Then again we could both be correct.

"Convenience Stores" in the US are NOT cheap - they're there for your 'convenience,' and therefore charge a premium, usually a good 50-100% normal market prices. They're usually gas stations (petrol), which is their real moneymaker. The only things I've found cheaper at a convenience store than a normal grocery store are canned chili and fountain drinks - and not at the same store.

Your Scottish mince pies could be equivalent to our sliders in the USA, they are known as White Castle burgers and they are sliders because of the grease and mayo they stack on them, little burgers, but delicious, especially after a night of drinking! I would love a mince pie! Yeah, the ham and cheese sandwich is a disappointment, with the ham all upfront, what are they trying to pull? You all need to get a petition going to stuff the sandwiches full of ham, that is a wish sandwich, two pieces of bread and you wish you had some meat!
