There are rituals that involve a man presenting a woman with a healthy rooster/chicken during a marriage proposal, as well as a variety of other rituals involving roosters/chickens during actual wedding ceremonies. So Lan Wangji presenting Wei Wuxian chickens and asking if they're fat enough is basically like a courting gift/marriage proposal XD chinese censorship let it slide probably only because WWX looks confused in that scene and thinks that LWJ is acting a bit crazy because he's drunk lmao

If he gave enough then the family would approve, if he did not give enough then they might become offended or just say no to the marriage.
