In the next video of our panhandle gulf crossing planning series, we have a long day's cruise to Apalachicola, Florida. Our number one goal for this section of the Loop is a safe, enjoyable crossing of the Gulf of Mexico, so if we have to depart at 3 AM, we will do what needs to be done!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from the Loop,
Jennifer and Elliot

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
Thank you for following us along our journey!

been watching you guys, great adventure. I crossed the gulf from apalachicola to tarpon springs about 180 miles had a heading of 131 degrees. left apalachicola inlet at 10 am and arrived at sunrise around 7am traveled at 8mph , our boat was a 36 feet marine trader sundeck with 6 cyl lyman ford diesel. decided not to leave from carrabelle 28 miles north east of apalachicola and on that heading from there, alot of crab taps and shallower water, any way just some considerations must stay, st petersburg city marina, right down town and a lot to see and do, my wife and I stayed 2months because we enjoyed it so much.

Good woman works hard. Drives boat, works lines, does cleaning, feeds man, makes videos, does laundry. Man is good telling woman how good she is while relaxing. lmao. That little saying got me in a lot of trouble when out having beers on our boats. My best friends wife after we had dinner said she made the icing on the dessert on my piece was ex lax. That had me wondering all night lol. It got alot of laughs.

For someone who had very little boating experience, you guys have come a long way. Seasoned sailors. Good skills and knowledge, yet still eager to learn more. 👍

Great smooth cruise. It never gets old seeing the dolphins! I’m glad you have buddy boats to cross the Gulf with! I need to go warm my lunch…your dinner looked so delicious and I’m starving! 🤤😋

Jen looks pretty calm knowing what's coming. Hope you've been able to push the anxiety aside and enjoy it. You've done sketchier things on this loop! Good luck and good weather. (LOL I already know you made it)

They have some great beers at that brewery. It is a super popular place in "Apalach" as the locals call the town. I love that town.

While you guys were cruising through "the Ditch." You had a satellite view of your location. I loved seeing it because you were only a few miles from what I consider my spring/summer home as a kid. I feel I grew up in St. Joseph Beach, FL. My grandparents had a house there until I was basically in highschool only a few hundred yards off the actual Gulf beach. Thank you.

As an addendum to my original statement, back in the trees my little brother and I ran across our share of alligators and a black bear once. Walk inland, and see gators and bears. Walk the beach or swim, and see dolphins, sharks and stingrays. So cool! Again thank you for taking me back!

I am confused. What gulf crossing are you talking about?
@terizumbusch8408
@terizumbusch8408 7 ай бұрын
I have followed you guys on a map and I don't see a Gulf crossing. I see a little piece of the Gulf from one part of Florida to the other. Is that what you're talking about?

Are you cutting from oyster city to clearwater
@wk845
@wk845 7 ай бұрын
@@terizumbusch8408The Gulf crossing they are talking about is from the Apalachicola/Carabelle, Florida area to Tarpon Springs/Clearwater, Florida area. Done in a straight shot, it is 170 miles of open water done mostly at night in 10-14 hours. There is an option for three shorter legs with stops along the “Big Bend”. We’ll just have to wait for the next exciting installment to see which option they choose!
