I often weigh my food, not to restrict myself, but to get reliable repeatability. "I ate this much yesterday and it felt right, lets do that again". It isn't that my satiety doesn't get involved but we aren't slowly eating a giant bowl of food and just stopping when we're full, we serve out a portion and some of us tend to eat what's on our plate once served, within a certain range. How often have you said "I shouldn't have had quite that much" after you stopped eating because now I feel too full. Measuring can help you get the portion that you actually enjoy.

Dear Chef AJ and Dr. Lisle, you both shared so much of yourselves in this particular interview --all in order to help us out here where we need support for our lifestyle in a culture that undermines our efforts to be healthy and humane. I genuinely feel some very special love and appreciation for you.

I've hit a stalling weight, no longer receiving the wonderful feedback from the scale, and I'm freaking out because my goal weight is ten pounds less than where I am right now. I'm starting to count calories because I don't know what else to do to reach my goal. I started exercising about three weeks ago and I'm disappointed this didn't help with losing any additional weight. So frustrating and I don't want to give up.

I’m sorry you’re going through that, and those Plateau’s can be very discouraging. May I ask though, are you following a Whole Food Plant Based (No Oil) lifestyle? Maybe going on walks twice a day? Not eating too late? On a Whole Food Plant Based Diet, counting calories really isn’t necessary. The only thing I would count is maybe fat intake, if you’re still eating foods like tofu. Don’t be hard on yourself, this is a journey, and we’re all learning together.

@@sowmindful1501 Thank you so much for your suggestion! It's nice hearing from others who understand. Yes, to the WFPB (no oil) way of eating. No tofu, avocado or nuts. Things were going so well and then the weight loss just stopped. I'm trying to be patient and stick with it but it's a little discouraging. I do need to work on not being so hard on myself ;)

You may have reached a temporary plateau. Best to ditch that scale and keep doing what your'e doing.... the weight will come off. Do a quick check to make sure oil, sugar, salt, flour and alcohol haven't snuck back into your diet.

@@kristymason7662 without knowing your situation - a trainer I know says the last ten pounds are "vanity pounds" so you're probably fine now, but you want to go a bit lower and your body will be healthy either way, but it's holding on to the weight because you're in an acceptable range and it's not really necessary to lose more. She's not plant based so she says just take it easy, she herself recommends a slight calorie deficit - a few hundred lower a day - for a few months (she very much believes in calories in calories out), and not more than five hours of exercise a week. I don't agree with limiting food or counting calories though others might find it helpful for knowledge of what you eat and for health but I do agree with her notion to take it easy, not to do more exercise for a few pounds - because it causes you to need more food - and that if it's 1/4 pound a week or 1pound a week of weight loss, or nothing on the scale changing for weeks at a time, it's fine, keep eating real food, in a few months you'll notice a difference, you'll be where you want.

He just makes EVERYTHING so logical! I"ll admit - I'm STILL scared of satiety..... I constantly strive to eat 'just below' my hunger drive! I feel like it's impossible to get the weight as low as I want if I eat til I'm satiated...... He is just AMAZING and always reminds me this is irrational and not sustainable and just to TRUST the process knowing that I am eating whole natural foods on the low calorie density scale!

Very good discussion... I will say that the maintenance discussion is very helpful and I'd like to know more of the psychological issues in maintenance... on a side note, I don't care if my doctor tells jokes, sings, dances or whatever, but when we deal with my health, I want him to be focused. I like individuality

Perhaps this aspect has already been touched upon, but, in addition to the cost-benefit analysis, there is the issue of attaching to and an investment in one’s life changing in ways that won’t, because the underlying psychological/emotional issues to be addressed are much more complex than weight loss will address. So, when someone loses weight and, after the initial sense of satisfaction and accomplishment has passed, but there are still underlying emotional/psychological issues that haven’t been addressed, returning to former, unhealthy eating patterns that mask those issues is very understanding.

15:07 (beginning ~ 9 min) C/B analysis changes as we shed weight. weight loss vs weight maintenance and the +ve feedback one derives from weight loss. Weight maintenance does not have that +ve feed back if one 's steady state /equilibrium point is much higher in Kg/lbs than one was hoping for , then that can be very frustrating, and may even lead to throwing in the towel.

This commercial suggests adding Natto to your diet (to strengthen your bones), which supplies vitamin K2 . Natto is readily available at Asian grocers and is simply fermented soy beans. You can actually make it yourself. It just takes a bit of getting used to. Flavor it with soy sauce and hot mustard or horseradish.

His cavalier and misinformed opinion about there not being any damage to kids from social isolation due to covid is chilling. A record number of teens committed suicide since the forced lockdowns occurred. Very disturbing to hear someone so lacking in compassion and so oblivious to the psychological damage done to everyone - including children - the past year and a half. My mother is a psychiatrist and she, along with every mental health practitioner I know, would refute everything he said on this topic.

I was really shocked when I heard him say that and rewound it because I didn’t believe I was hearing that coming out of his mouth. The proof is in the pudding and the data is coming out every day as to how harmful this has been to children. I know he knows better, but why did he say that?

@@michellemahoney7527 There are only two possible reasons why he said it: He’s either appallingly uniformed or promoting the propaganda of TPTB that orchestrated and perpetuated this nightmare. Whichever it is, it’s a reminder that many who we deem authorities are anything but. His remarks will come back to haunt him as the tragic facts, suppressed by the corrupt media, continue to emerge.

Unfortunately, acting and being a comedian are not stable, steady jobs which is why many actors/actresses/comedians have to become producers, writers, directors or leave the profession and became lawyers, doctors, etc. in order to pay their bills. If we had a guaranteed basic minimum income system, then the people could do what they love instead of doing something else which leaves them financially secure, but mentally miserable.
