Tami, your dry cleaners story is so funny! I've been married 32 years and obviously my husband knows I'm overweight, although he doesn't ever mention it, and he's always been loving to me, but I would never tell him how much I weigh! Only last year did he have to take me to an urgent care and the doctor asked me my weight and I swear I panicked! I looked at my husband, then back at the doctor, then back at my husband, etc. I actually wanted to ask my husband to leave the room! But the doctor was already looking at me like I was crazy, so I asked him if I could write it down and then he knew I was crazy so I said nevermind and said my weight in front of my husband and then I didn't want to make eye contact with my husband again because I was so ashamed at how much I weighed! I find it funny now, but I was mortified at the time. Like no one knows we're fat unless we tell them the number on the scale!

Thank you for sharing your story - I totally get it! How lucky are we to have husbands who never say anything about our weight and love us for who we are no matter what size we are. ❤️

I like that thought instead of “Salad”, say a bed of greens will help me eat more greens

Hi Sia, I would start with a healthy and filling (sweet) potato rather than flaxseeds if you're new to this way of eating. The simple way to start is to change one meal to a plate that is half starches and half veggies without oily dressing. If I were a newbie I would probably start with Dr McDougall's diet or Mary McDougall's Mini reset. What helped me to transition was to eat a plant-based meal I used to eat when I was overweight, I just ate it more frequently: minimally processed shop-bought falafel and low-fat hummus with a great big salad, I buy iceberg lettuce and use the large outer leaves to hold the tomatoes, onions, falafel and hummus, so there's no need to have bread. I season the salad with lemon juice and try to buy the juiciest, tastiest tomatoes I can find. I skip the tahini or any oils.

I think she said 2 but I also think they are not as necessary as people might think. I just have a walnut every day or take the occasional omega 3 supplement. Nuts and seeds would not have been available all year round, Chef AJ for example does very well without them.
