WEIGHTLIFTERS ARE LAZY - CrossFit Athletes Thoughts on Real Weightlifting Training

As a weightlifter myself who subs to channels like Coach ZT and Garage Strength, they've often suggested that Crossfitters could benefit alot from seeing a strict weightlifting coach as their technique could become far more efficient which would increase their C&J and snatch numbers which in turn would benefit them in events where they're doing any variation of those lifts. We've seen from Mat and Tia how helpful a background in weightlifting can be and I even heard Guilherme Malherios worked with a weightlifting coach which resulted in him just dominating the snatch competition in this past CF Games. His technique and speed was just amazing and you could see he had professional help in fine tuning that part of his skillset

When the plane went over it just looked like you were checking out Jas from the little box.

I'm not a crossfitter, just go to a regular gym, but I've been adding the pauses and hit a PB on my back squat already, plus loads of compliments from the weightlifters on my training, which is nice too. Thanks for making us all stronger!

I've done this recently, a program by Squat University called back to basics: Part 1 (on train heroic). Focuses on movement & mobility and a lot of pauses, with even 20 reps with reps 1 & 5 being a 5 sec pause.

I only do back squat with pauses now. No reason to be piling on the kind of weight I would need to get good work outs in... and less plates to move around!

I like the commentary while your working out nice option. Sound quality is great that way

How does Jas feel with the new weightlifting cycle? Enjoying it? Tired? What are her gains?

I met a TeamRichey fan in Guadalajara! Training at @DistritoCrossfit on vacation and Anna came over and said "you must be from England, right? The HSTL gear!". I'm gonna bring her some merch next year (intl. shipping is.. ouch!). You legends - bringing the world together, one awesome vlog at a time!

Happy Birthday Jas!! My Dad's BD is also Tuesday Oct 5th, he is 94 years young. Already talking about 95 calling it the Big One!! Craig awesome content. I started doing pauses last week. Working out every other day and yes I feel stronger, walking taller, straighter and also yes need a bit more sleep to recover. Thank you!!

I'm really interested to see how this helps with crossfit when/if you go back to it. Being strong helps immensely in heavier cf workouts (like Macho man, maybe Kalsu. You know th deal) when you can "cruise" with the rx weights. I'm loving your weightlifting cycle and especially this video. Heavy barbell work can absolutely fry your cns and a workout with few reps can look easy takes a lot to recover from. As you said, every crossfitter should give a weightlifting cycle a try. Cant hurt to be strong like a weightlifter. 🙂 Just ask Mat Fraser.

Are they a sneaky peak of leggings for men maybe in the next launch? Tired of ripping the hairs and skin off my shins in cleans and snatches and I’d happily don a pair of HSTL made leggings than joggers 👌🏼

We are and we’re still stronger than any crossfitter.

I’ve been supertotal training mostly this past summer and fall. I feel like squats, clean and jerks, and deadlifts just require more recovery than snatches and presses.

careful craning your neck back at the bottom of/during the squat. Notice the difference between you and your mate. He doesn't do it. It restricts blood flow to your brain and can cause serious injury. Been there done that and felt like sharing watching your squat. Trust me you do not want the injuries that come with it.

Hey, are you following a specific weightlifting programor do you program the workouts yourself?! If you do your own programming is there a specific program you would recommend?! Thanks!!!

Content was strong as usual. But really liked the balance of talking/opinion and factual/narration. TBH I watch this channel for the opinion and viewpoint side and this was really interesting for that. Thanks!

Would you ever consider doing a full gymnastics or cardio cycle like this one? I wonder if that would be an efficient way to get better at crossfit. Just do a cycle of each of the foundation before returning full time to crossfit.
@dr59513 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, your posture at the bottom during the pause and the start of knee extension is amazing. If it was me I would start trunk flexion for sure and put so much strain on my lumbar spine, that would be the only thing I'd feel. Good for you focusing on perfect technique and building strength at your most vulnerable position. Hi from Canada (c;
