I love some concrete examples. Especially with you talking us through the decisions. Those volume changes and interplay between the lifts for performance is something that you don't just do until you have good experience in programming.
@emcarpenter52062 ай бұрын
This is really valuable even as a general example! Thanks to stuff like this I feel like I have half a clue what I'm doing. I just finished a block with a pretty similar structure to this based on what I've learned from these videos and hit 90/110 for the first time.
@TDace252 ай бұрын
Nice work! How many times did you snatch each week?
@emcarpenter52062 ай бұрын
@@TDace25 Been snatching 3 times per week so one more than this example actually. That's full snatch twice and one variation. For me moving from 2 times to 3 was huge for improving technique.
@TDace252 ай бұрын
@@emcarpenter5206 nice man. Did you use similar progressions for the 3rd snatch day?
@emcarpenter52062 ай бұрын
@@TDace25 Not really, first two days were similar to this but the 3rd day (Friday) was hit whatever was maximal for that day then rest Sat/Sun. Idk if that's recommended but works well for me, I like getting that regular practice with heavy weight. I'm strict about it though, if I miss I call it there unless it was really close. Never more than 2 misses at most in those sessions.
@TDace252 ай бұрын
@ nice thanks for the explanation. Kinda what I am starting this week. Gonna follow the first two days then do a heavier third day. Start with doubles then progress up

Used the principle of programming here and ended up with pretty good snatch triple, snatch double, block snatch, block clean, clean, 3 clean + 1 jerk, clean + 3 jerks, clean + 2 jerk, PR's but no max single snatch and single clean & jerk PR. I guess the higher volume helped with technique consistency. I guess I needed more practice with singles?

how about squats and pulls? And Acessory work?

Thanks for this! Quick question, what is the rationale of starting with higher volume cleans as opposed to jerks in the beginning before flipping it half-way through?
@joseluisbeltran52862 ай бұрын
And how the pull and squat should be handle? Just ad the pull+squat between the Sn and SnV?? Or dependes on the goal of the program??

For a new weightlifter training in 6 week waves (for example 18 week macro cycle, 3 waves) would you advise their programming to repeat first 6 weeks of this macro cycle as described (I’m a general lifting enthusiast so I’m also doing powerlifts alongside weightlifting movements)

Is sticking with one snatch/clean variation for that long good? They're supposed to be for addressing errors in the classic lifts. I think they should be there not longer than 4 consecutive weeks no? By that time, if the error still exists, maybe other variation/focus/cue should be given instead.
@jay177372 ай бұрын
It will take much longer than 4 weeks to fix an error in the snatch

"you dont want to get good at variations" why do I feel like this is personal attack on me, like my hang variations being better then full lifts and snatch grip stronger then jerk grip in overhead push press variations is somehow bad 🤣🤣🤣
