How is a 470kg zercher power shrug a realistic paradigm for the average normie lmao. It's way more easier to diet and look pretty rather than building up to these kind of weights, no matter the ROM.
@HIMCULES
@HIMCULES 3 жыл бұрын
@@Themistoclees I don't see 470kg anywhere in my comment, you took one exercise out of context, to suit your argument. If I have to explain, I would say the six pack is not a very realistic target for us people over 45, nor does it have to be. I was thinking more of the Grizzly's perseverence to adapt, adopt and overcome injuries, metabolism, etc. If I had to choose, I would rather take the Grizzly who keeps on going as hard as anybody into his fifties, than dieting six-packed bodybuilders dying in their twenties.
@Themistoclees

@@Themistoclees Did you ever think that you are not gettibg what I am saying because you are negatively preoccupied? We don't have to agree you know, but I'll try to simplify it and help you understand: You can have fun lifting weights, without having to try to adhere to a specific, not-very-realistic body image, or "established" approaches to training. So , probably most people here dont know this but , Grizzly (hes 47 years old!!!) started as an olympic weightlifter at very young age he looked like a grown man when he was 12!!, his snatch was 180, clean and jerk 220, after that he continued as a powerlifter his squat was 330, deadlift 330 , bench 270(not sure), as the time went by he got injured : lower back, knees and torn his triceps. So he has converted to these ''weird'' lifts , put some respect to M'Bloat as he is a legend.

You're definitely spot on. Grizzly is a guy who is just *frighteningly* strong but he's not terribly mobile in terms of weightlifting and obviously his technique is... unique... so I think that makes him a highly entertaining character. Unlike a lot of "bad form" lifters out there, he really is powerful and odds are only elite lifters would be able to keep up with him if they tried his exercises. His bicep curls are also legitimate world record contenders.

Before jumping to conclusions, one should consider that the Grizzly is almost 50 years old, was an olympic weightlifter with a 180/220kg pr a looong time ago, has done powerlifting with respectable numbers, and despite his many injuries (e.g. pressing is a problem due to a torn tricep, so he does all these raises), still finds ways to work out.

No need, he wouldn't even place for the world championships at the SWH class. He's strong but he's not that strong, he's just famous because he does those really heavy short ROM/massive momentum "lifts" (which in any other circumstances would be dismissed as cheating). You can see that from his squat attempt, yes it's a lot of weight by normal people standards but not at all by elite strength athletes' standards. If he were to actually squat to depth Clarence at his best would likely outsquat him at half his body weight.

@@stergiosdardas7235 Fair enough but my point still stands, he's strong but not that strong, he's simply become an internet meme. Even if he had a 400 total 20 years ago he still wouldn't have won anything at the 108+ class. He wouldn't even have been the strongest weightlifter in Greece. People who see him bouncing these massive weights around and genuinely believe that means he might actually be on the same level of, for example, a WSM competitor, are simply delusional. The Grizzly does not submit to any of the dogmatic mainstream doctrines of today. He doesn't care for the acceptance of powerlifters, weightlifters, bodybuilders or strongmen. He's paving his own way in strength athletics. He's forging a unique legacy of power far beyond the naiveties of competing for such abstract glories as honor, pride, adoration or fame. There is no other man on Earth who can do what He does. If I were to tell you a tale of a man weighing in excess of 200 kilograms doing splits, zercher shrugs with 490 kilograms for reps, reverse curling 160 kilograms for a set of 10 and even doing pullups for multiple reps, would you ever believe me? It would sound preposterous! Surely no such man could exist! Indeed, it would seem to defy everything we understand about the limitations of human performance. But here is such a man. Here is The Grizzly. His quest to conquer both man and steel is based on the concrete, and this noble quest transcends the immaterial realm of our modern society and its vacuous values. It seems, that ultimately Kyriakos is attempting to elevate the collective psyche of mankind to echelons above by showing us the flaws of both dogma and submission. Kyriakos is leading by example. He does not talk in his videos, for words are subject to interpretation. He has bestowed upon us but a single thought: _you have to live it._ If the Buddha were to be born again in our modern era, and he were to post on Facebook that he'd be meditating at the root of a mountain and that anyone would be free to join him, people would flock there in masses. Thousands of people would just go and take pictures and look at the scene through a camera's lens, but they wouldn't truly be present in that place nor in that moment. Those who would accept the invitation to meditate may not even travel to him, but may indeed sit down at their own homes, close their eyes, and meditate as if they were there. The ones who chose not to travel could be much more present in the Buddha's meditation than the masses carrying their cameras. We may look at Kyriakos as a curiosity. We may see him as the man meditating at the root of a mountain. Let us try and open our eyes and join him. We have to live it.
