Another good video Karen, you really have a good respect for your cattle. When working in Tasmania, Australia I had to castrate a number of 18 month old Hereford bulls when I was in my twenties and it was a very daunting task, but all the bulls survived. It was done in a proper cattle crush and the owner kept them entire to select some for breeding from, with those not selected being castrated.

Backs are shaved when they are brought inside for winter. Let's them release heat preventing them from sweating. Reduces risk of pneumonia.

I had a massy badge that went over the grey 3 triangles on the front of your 135 and spent half the evening looking for it, but I couldn’t find it anywhere ( did find a lot of stuff I had forgotten about though) so unfortunately I couldn’t send it down to you, last time I had it was during the big tidy up during Covid ( spit) considering I traded the 135 in, in 1979 it was a bit of a shock that it was still there but it must have gone to the skip during the legendary aforementioned cleanup. Cattle looking well !

Could you explain why you give them a haircut,another good video.
@karenmoynihanfarm20 күн бұрын
Sorry I should've done that in the video. The strip down the backs reduces the amount of sweating they do in the shed so reduces the risk of pneumonia and then the tails just keep them cleaner and it's more comfortable for them because they're tails aren't so heavy
@lionelmarytravels600323 күн бұрын
Hello again Karen. Just wondering why you clip the backs? As far as rings go, providing you get them on correctly, I think that is the best way.
@karenmoynihanfarm23 күн бұрын
We do that to reduce sweating. They're more comfortable so people believe it helps them thrive but mainly because when they sweat and then cool it can cause lung issues like pneumonia
@lionelmarytravels600323 күн бұрын
I thought that might be the reason Karen. You certainly know what you are doing

Farming words are nuts, you give nuts to the cows, Having a Date, could mean more Fruit, are Some Romance❤ and going on a Date. How much do you pay for a bale of hay in N. Kerry? It is €50.
