Hornsby was a great fan of the Dead. I think he knew he was in Jerry’s shoes at that time. A beautiful song by TGD, reverently done by Bruce even knowing he was falling somewhat short. His life will never lose this godly moment.

Listen, I'm not one to say anything negative about ANY former member of the Grateful Dead, but, in only my opinion, this was absolutely horrible, to the point of being disrespectful to The Silvered Haired Angel and Mr. Hunter...let me leave out the fact that he left out entire lines of the song, and that he forgot the words twice, his pitch was absolutely atrocious!...he should stick to the keys...this is one of my top three Jerry ballads, and he destroyed this beautiful song...miss Jerry and Brent...and now sadly Robert, every day!..." Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there "...much love and good health to all my Dead Family...GD 4life!..✌💀💨🎸🍄🎙🇺🇸🕯🎶

Saw the Dead's first performance of If I Had The World To Give at Red Rocks Aug '78 and instantly knew it was a Garcia/Hunter classic for all time. This song is even better! What surprises me now is that it never took its rightful place in the song rotation until the 90's. I always thought they would both fit well in the Wharf Rat slot.

Standing on the Moon Grateful Dead Standing on the moon I got no cobweb on my shoe Standing on the moon I'm feeling so alone and blue I see the gulf of Mexico As tiny as a tear The coast of California Must be somewhere over here, over here Standing on the moon I see the battle rage below Standing on the moon I see the soldiers come and go There's a metal flag beside me Someone planted long ago Old glory standing stiffly Crimson, white and indigo, indigo I see all of southeast Asia I can see El Salvador I hear the cries of children And the other songs of war It's like a mighty melody That rings down from the sky Standing here upon the moon I watch it all roll by, all roll by Standing on the moon With nothing else to do A lovely view of heaven But I'd rather be with you Standing on the moon I see…

@dollarrecordswithjosh7958 жыл бұрын
Bruce IS a huge star and talent. It's just that he turned his back on the top 40 era of 1986's "The Way it Is" to become a more well rounded musician. Don't be fooled - he is a god - just on a smaller scale.

Same guy writes all phish’s songs I believe. A lot of them are totally and absolutely ridiculous and just basic outlines for them to jam out of. Which is fine, musically they’re a phenomenal band. Just not much depth in my humble opinion.
