Weird 4th Of July Facts!

I was a little surprised at some of the facts that I was able to dig up regarding the 4th of July celebrations in the USA, and I am betting some of you will be too. So, here's to wishing a happy Independence Day to all my American people!!

America's Independence would not have happened if Thomas Payne hadn't written the pamphlet- "Common Sense" and given it to all the others in the Continental Congress. That pamphlet brought our Founding Fathers back together to write our Declaration. Thank You to all Veterans that fought for our country, I regret I cannot be near fireworks whether they are set off by fools or professionals. If you think about the penalty by the British for signing the Declaration you will understand why it took so long. Many paintings show a room full of people all ready to sign. that is not how it happened. The paintings were done long after the fact and prioritized the pride they shared in our independence. They pretty much had to sign in private and pray they weren't discovered. Many of them lost wealth, family, and even their lives for the cause. My family celebrated being together. Had hot dogs, tater salad, baked beans and coleslaw. And yes a nice cold dark porter beer. Then went out in the field and shot off fireworks. Then to finish it all off with a churn of homemade peach ice cream. It was a very happy fourth for us all although it was very hot and humid, but that's how the summer days are living in the south. Ride and stay safe! Peace!

Another Independence Day not so fun fact: King George couldn’t let go after declaration and continued to conscript Americans into the British Navy. It took another war 1812, to finally get them out. 🎉 Good video Red. Thanks for posting.

The absolute coolest fireworks show I have ever seen was at the opening of the Tenn-Tom Waterway in Mobile, Alabama. There was a YUGE fireworks show there, and we unintentionally had the best seat ever. We had no idea about the celebration. We were just down there fishing on a long, long pier across an inlet in Mobile Bay across from the USS Alabama, a retired battleship from WWII that is set up as a floating museum. Where we were, the fireworks were directly behind and over the battleship. At least a half an hour of BIG fireworks that shook the pier! Sadly, that pier got washed away by a hurricane a while back. But it was an awesome fireworks show!

Thank YOU for being your sweet self, Angel! PS, did you know that King George's decree ended the British slave trade? He commanded the British fleet to intercept all slave-trade ships. An individual of significant complexity, he was. The buzz around here is that he was the first to advocate for Japanese choppers and vociferously argue against chopping BSAs, Triumphs, Royal Enfields, etc. They were considered too pure, I suppose!

Angel, I've seen the pyrotechnic displays (fireworks) all over the U.S. in my years; however, the display in Boston on the Charles River, with the Boston Pops, is the grand king of fireworks displays, period! ...hands down totally. 76 hotdogs! OMG Here in Rochester, our fireworks are phenomenal... after a Honkers baseball game (popcorn, beer, and hotdogs) come the fireworks over Silver Lake... just fabulous... but nowhere close to Boston's! I agree with you, it a bit over the top. LOL The 4th came about more for what we call the Boston Tea Party. If you look up that you might understand it more, puts it more in context. In the United States we don't need much of an excuse, we will have a BBQ at the drop of a hat. LOL Hot Dogs are number 1 because they are cheap ,fast and thanks to a man named Nathan in a boardwalk town in New York Hot Dogs are a staple that goes with everything. LOL Besides one fact about Hot Dogs is you can garnish them with anything you want. 😊 You are more than welcome to celebrate the 4th with us and yes it is the most over the top day of the year in the US. It started small and just keeps getting bigger, but I have never seen anything as big of a celebration as the one we had 4th of July 1976. Thank you very much and as for myself I would someday like to come one day and check out Canada Day with you it also looks like a blast to me. PEACE ✌️ ☮️ 😊

I live near Huntington Beach California and the July 4 parade here is the biggest west of the Missisippi and it is so much fun, right by the beach, and great weather. Massive fireworks in this area on July 4. The hot dog thing is just a footnote really. You sort of see hot dogs at most beach cafes along with hamburgers. There is a Harley Sportster for sale on my block - I need to check it out. My neighbor was a pro rider, I need wingman to check it out.

You should come down to Ohio. We’ve got fireworks displays pretty much daily from Thursday thru Sunday in my area. Sometimes two displays a night. Then there’s The Big Pond….. It’s a ball being out on a boat and seeing fireworks pop up along the north coast, and seeing them all at one time.

The spark that started it all was the Boston tea party. King levied a 2% tax on a breakfast drink (tea). That was the beginning of the end. The best celebration in the states is in my little Indiana town (I'm a little partial). We have the biggest parade in the state and a good fireworks show. It isn't Boston, but it is great. You are welcome here 100%. We have a family cook out and enjoy the day. Just let us know and you will have a place at the table.

2:28 Is he wearing a Mexican sombrero? Anyway, I would recommend "Freedom Over Texas" in Houston. It's a concert with some of the top country stars followed by a fireworks show. So, if you're not into country music, you can skip that part. There are also some pretty cool rides you can take while in Texas ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2LQgaqLnKmSmrMfeature=shared ). Plus, you don't have to worry about sensory overload listening to that "Bawstin" accent all day.

I don't understand the attraction of the food eating competitions either. They're just plain disgusting. To see fireworks like you're talking about, you probably need to hit one of the big cities. All the fireworks outfits are booked on the 4th and the small towns and cities don't have the money to compete.
