Weird Al is good for the soul period. I have fond memories of a time when I knew all the lyrics to the Bad Hair Day album. My uncle would take the doors off his Wrangler, we’d go for a drive and my cousins and I would belt “Amish Paradise” at the top of our lungs. I think we were about 10.

That's probably why he's singing a different cover song every night on his latest tour. His moving rendition of Fire and Rain really shows off what a beautiful voice he has and his version of Billy Idols's Rebel Yell had Billy Idol himself tweeting about it. A fan put up a playlist of 37 of his covers and they're great!

Weird Al has a good voice, but he makes up for it in enthusiasm, respect and reverence. He’s not calling attention to himself in this performance, rather expressing his happiness at the opportunity to do it. I think his parodies work so well because they always seem to be done with a sense of respect for the art. Even his “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is so well done that it makes a person respect the original song/video even more. That’s my take anyway.

One thing I love about this performance is that even though it sounds very similar to the original song, the meaning feels different. The original song feels like a love song directed at a romantic partner, or as has sometimes been interpreted, to a higher power. But the way Al performs this, it feels like a love song directed at his audience specifically. What is his life without the love of his fans? We can see he’s more than just a comedian or a rockstar, he’s really baring his soul on the stage. His soul just happens to be a bit silly.

Weird Al sings George Harrison!!! And NAILS it!!! For those of you who are surprised, don't be; Weird Al is an EXCEPTIONAL musician! To do what he does, he HAS to be a VERY skilled musician (same here); he makes his parodies look easy! They're not. It's not just a matter of writing clever parodies; the performance has to be just as good as the originals! That takes a very high degree of talent and musicianship! Notice that there's very few people - if any - who can even approach Weird Al's level of musicianship for song parodies! Weird Al is the real thing!!! 👍👍👍

I’ve seen plenty of people often refer to his live shows as the best show their been to or at least up there with the best. And I can see how they feel that way, with his energy, quality vocals, great band, comedy, good production value and so on.
