I took this flight home from Oslo a few years ago. Or, actually, I was booked on it, only to discover the passport thing when I tried to check in for my flight. So I had to stay the night in OSL and take a regular SAS flight home the next morning instead. Live and learn..

I flew their Dreamliner 4 times, round flight from São Paulo GRU to Seoul ICN via Addis Ababa and had the unfortunate experience that my seat was dirty and worn and the windows scratched from the inside. Worst part was that I booked the same seat 33K for the next leg and it was the same plane that flew GRU-ADD, unfortunately the flight from ADD to ICN was full so I needed to deal with that for almost 24 hours. Other than that it was a good experience, most of the crew was very friendly!

its not odd: its cargo $$. The airline made record profit $$$during the pandemic because the maximized their routes services. all others lost. Ethiopian airlines have similar routes in Asia that doesnt look like it make sense but we dont know what is in the belly of those planes outside its Cargo services
@cinnamonstar808Ай бұрын
Ethiopian Airline is one of the best. The ground crew in Stockholm did not do a great job at cleaning the plane..especially after a long 8 hour flight.

There are a thousand reports on youtube with 'super visible' grime on camera inside the cabins of major airlines... hardly weird. The only thing I agree with is the condition of the lavatories. But then again, it only takes a passenger or two to create the mess we see here. This report looks suspiciously identical to another Ethiopian 5th freedom report by Patrick Shea, right down to the title. "I'm not particularly rushing to get on Ethiopian soon"- after only a 40min trip on an older aircraft that has just done 8hrs? A bit too dramatic for FR24... but still your biggest fan though!
@christianwuethrich2222 Жыл бұрын
I do not understand how Ethiopian can generate profit between Europe and Addis. The planes are flying only at night, during the day they are parked in an airport in Europe and they do almost systematically this short trip between two European cities. Some of this European flights are even not allowed to take any passenger (MXP-ZRH for example).
@thomassmith8140 Жыл бұрын
Hey! im gonna be taking this flight in September and just got an email from Ethiopian saying I need a Schengen visa. I have a Canadian passport and got into Norway from Ireland just fine last year. Do I need a visa? or is it just for passengers flying from Africa?
@mitjaoblak708 Жыл бұрын
No, as a Canadian passport holder you don't need any visa in order to enter any Schengen country whatsoever, regardless of your point of embarkation being in Canada, or elsewhere. Nationals of “Annex II” countries and territories (Schengen visa waiver countries, like Canada) don't need a Schengen visa, but those from “Annex I” countries like Ethiopia do.

Such a large aircraft for a short flight is that making financial sense? Thanks for the video though, not that I am flying Ethiopian airlines soon, the plane was a mess ! Just FYI from the USA, my wife and I just got back from Hawaii flying mostly in a 787 - 10 (Polaris Business Class) pricier than usual, but everything is going up. We both flew for FREE this time due to all of our other contributions to United Polaris Class making it even more comfy. Looking forward to the rest of YOUR lengthy trip.

Remember that plane comes from ethiopia and they just stop at both capitals. It's like covering everybody coming from addis ababa to both stockholm and oslo at once.
@Eyob797 Жыл бұрын
Ethiopian Airlines must retrofit the seats in both business and economy classes in their older 777s, 787s, and some of their A350s. The airplane also needs to be cleaned at Stocholms Arlanda airport after it arrives on an overnight flight from Addis Ababa.
@claycarter3535 Жыл бұрын

Passport freedom between the Nordic countries has existed since 1954 so a long time before the Schengen zone (although they all belong to it as well). The difference is that as a Nordic citizen you don't need more than a drivers licence instead of an official ID.
@happyemoji1646 Жыл бұрын
This probaly applies on crossings to another country with train or car but it does not apply on crossing with aircrafts, airport staff will probaly deny you boarding or deny at passport control if you do not have a national ID card within european union or a passport, driver license is not a valid thing to use for air travel between nordic or EU countries.
@tuttirulla Жыл бұрын
@@happyemoji1646 No, this is simply not true. I have flown many times between Nordic countries and they don't check any ID whatsoever. And within Schengen zone there are no passport controls.
@HB45175 Жыл бұрын
@@happyemoji1646 You are incorrect, the rules are the same regardless of mode of transport, as tuttirulla says.

I once had a very weird experience with this flight. I have a non-EU passport and traveled from Oslo to Stockholm on ET. When passing through immigration in Oslo, the police said they wouldn’t stamp my passport since I came to Norway by train. On arrival at Stockholm the border police was very confused that I didn’t have the exit stamp from the Norwegian side and he didn’t know what to do with this scenario 🤣. Finally he called his supervisor and later stamped my passport. Looks like quite a corner case for them.

Just curious…why does Ethiopian Airlines have intra country privileges…in most countries, an airline is prohibited from making flights within or between countries except from the airline’s home country and the original destination….sometimes referred to as cabotage
@BayAreaTraveler Жыл бұрын
That’s not true, it depends on if they have 5th freedom route privileges. A lot of airlines have this and fly routes and not from their own country.

I would never think of flying Ethiopian, as I can never get the image of the jet they spiraled into the ocean many years ago. Also, as former QF Flight Attendant I was always very critical of other airlines when we had to pax somewhere on another airline, and I must agree with you that aircraft was foul by my standards. QF ground staff I'm sure didn't like me when I used to log dirty a/c seats, carpets, or things on the outside like the dirt accumulated around your window on the outside. These things always make me wonder about other short cuts airlines take with maintenance of their aircraft.
I'm surprised given its Sweden and Norway that the authorities allow such a flight because of such low load factors and all the emissions it produces. I like the idea of France banning domestic flights and pushing customers to their brilliant train service.
@steinarnielsen89542 ай бұрын
Clearly not that brilliant if the French rely on flight bans to force people onto trains.
