“According to Kate, the song chronicles a wife's desire to test her husband's loyalty. To do so, she takes on the pseudonym of Babooshka and sends notes to her husband in the guise of a younger woman - something which she fears is the opposite of how her husband currently sees her.”

Yes, but then she meets him in disguise, and he falls for her because she reminds him of his wife before she became depressed. Interesting twist. So in attempting to test his loyalty, she just proves that he does love her, and that all she needs to do is become happier.

Kate Bush was discovered as a teenager, by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. He put up the money for her to develop her talents for two years. Her first album's first single was a world-wide Top Ten hit. Most of the songs on 1977's "The Kick Inside" were written by Kate, between the ages of 14 and 18. Kate is one of the most daring, inventive and innovative singer-songwriters in Rock music. She opened the doors for all other women since 1977 to walk through, from Madonna to Lady Gaga.

Oops... opened up the can 'o Kate Bush again! Kate is an absolute legend... perhaps the best female music artist. She plays top-level piano, great lyrics, learned synth and music creation programming by borrowing Peter Gabriel's Fairlight system, produced the latter half of her music catalog.... and left full-time music because she conquered it and wanted to raise her child in peace. Here's how much a legend she is: About 8 years ago, Kate decided to play live again, after 35 years. Before the Dawn was I think 24 shows over 2 months at the same venue in London. It sold out in 28 minutes. People flew from around the globe to be there for a show. If I could have, I would have. I hoped that Kate would release a DVD set of this concert, but she has not deigned to do so. I feel that's kind of unfair to all the fans who have loved her for decades, but never got a chance to see her, me included. Kate Bush was born on 30 July 1958 in Bexleyheath, Kent, to an English doctor, general practitioner Robert Bush (1920-2008), and Hannah née Daly (1918-1992), an Irish staff nurse, daughter of a farmer in County Waterford. She grew up with her elder brothers, John and Paddy, in a 350-year-old former farmhouse at East Wickham in Welling, which neighbours Bexleyheath. Bush came from an artistic background: her mother was an amateur traditional Irish dancer, her father was an amateur pianist, Paddy worked as a musical instrument maker, and John was a poet and photographer. Both brothers were involved in the local folk music scene. She was raised as a Roman Catholic. Peace out.

Remember this was filmed in 1980... think about that. There was no MTV. No Madonna. None of those female artists who have been trying to copy what Kate Bush was doing in this video. The year before she had been on tour with two dancers performing either side of her. Using a headphone microphone so she could dance with them while still singing. NO ONE had ever done this before. She was making videos with a story and narrative before Michael Jackson, Duran Duran or Peter Gabriel. This filmed performance was done for the sake of telling the story, not just to look sexy. And she made a ton of videos like this between 1979 and 1980. She also did the choreography, and in some cases the directing, and she wrote the songs and music. There is no one like her, still to this day.

Bunda is portuguese for butt, but (ho hum) you're right, in the UK we'll adopt slang from all over so do use bunda especially in rap I reckon probably from Brazilian populations in the UK - and its kinda onomatopoeic, innit so a great universal term. Babooska is Russian for grandmother/old lady, and the headscarves they wear. The russian dolls whereby one fits inside another are called babooshka too. I've always taken it to mean her husband a) kinda now sees his wife as an old lady, he's got bored of her or the idea of her - she's tricked him into meeting up for a fling (but with her) b) as women we are many types of women inside ourselves - a babooshka doll. We may be seen as a grandma, but we may also be a warrior, a mother, a minx, a cougar, a sage, a temptress, a witch, a teacher - depending on which shell we're showing and who's looking.

She's from the UK, Kate Bush is very talented. Can do it all. Sing (great voice yall picked it up), dance, perform, dress, theatrical, etc. Lex is right. Had a Russians girlfriend back in the 70 she told me The word "Babooshka" is Russian for grandmother It's also the name of a type of headdress. The title was chosen through a series of coincidences: Kate turned on the TV and someone was singing about Babooshka; looking through a magazine she came across an opera titled Babooshka, and a friend had a cat named Babooshka. Kate has always been fascinated by the concept of synchronicity, which inspired her earlier track "Strange Phenomena." Peace out.
