What WAS that😭 just so bizarre that they’re talking about seeing things as you’re thinking about them and I see a sign with ANGEL wings on then as they’re talking about ANGEL

Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was my university’s recommended book freshman year in 2010. After I graduated in 2014, the company I ended up working for is in a building named after the gynecologist that discovered the HeLa cells and he lived to 104 and was still working in the building up until he died. When we would have fire alarms, he didn’t bother leaving the building because he was in a wheel chair and was so old.

We all always talk about animals, such as dogs and other animals that can detect things like cancers and illnesses and people. We never talk about how humans are just as capable of doing the same things, if we have less distractions in life, and can focus more on our natural instincts and capabilities. If the air wasn’t as polluted, could we sniff out our food and smell the toxins in some. Like how bears know what berries to eat and what not too and they aren’t using google. We could do that too, I bet.

matt!! thank you for talking about Henrietta Lacks, her cells were the first collected cells that reproduced which were used from research. she was robbed and completely violated and also created the standard for ethical practices because she never agreed to what they did with her cells which caused an uproar. despite the advancements that were made because of their cells her family did not receive any compensation and they still are quite frustrated because of all the things their family has done for science and biology as a whole are all based on the violation of Henrietta Lacks vulnerability

Similar to what Matt was talking about, there is something called the "stinky t-shirt" study where psychologist asked men and women to rate the smell of t-shirts worn by a separate group of men and women for three nights in a row. The study found that women could smell the difference between more or less genetically fit men, but only when they were ovulating.

I work for a billboard company and this is correct! There are companies that track data from phones and tells the demographic of people and how many people put eyes on each specific board in a day. It’s all so interesting but creepy too lol also for most billboard companies there are restrictions on certain boards for certain types of ads. There are laws in each state we have to follow when posting certain ads. Ex) can’t post any controlled substance ads within 500ft of a school or religious center… random but fun facts!!

I saw a short on you guys talking about Henrietta Lacks and I came to find the video to comment. So I actually did read this book in school, but it wasn't until a college english class that I read it. I really think this is something that should be taught in science classes. The story of Henrietta is so incredible and sad. This woman was basically tortured by doctors just for her to die so young from cancer. They would put rods of radium inside of her to get rid of her cervical cancer. The cancer started to spread through her body ultimately ending her life. I highly recommend people read the book, I haven't seen the movie myself so that may be an alternative if you aren't a big reader.
