Weird Toontown Servers Episode 6: Toontown Fellowship

Hey guys so I tried something new with the series. Instead of talking about a few smaller games i talked about 1 game and if you guys like this style or not, my next episode will be the regular with a few smaller games and another planned just being an individual game. Hi! To explain the hot tub, one of my friends (a long time player who was an intern) jokingly suggested the hot tub idea, and it was added! It wasn't a super professionally developed idea, just a joke that became a fun reality. Most people who play it, including myself, play it for the community and nostalgia. It's been a very slow and buggy development, very true, but I enjoy it for the people I've met playing it, as well as it just being generally quieter. From the POV of someone without connections to the game, I'm sure it'd seem a bit strange, though 😊😊

Man, I remember when I bang out Toontown Fellowship. Then after all these years later, I stopped as I found some other Toontown Games.

i used to have an inrl friend who worked at toontown fellowship.. never knew they did and they went to my school and everything lol i was told there was a ton of drama and stuff.. i don't remember all the details since this was like 4-5 years ago xD

There are a lot of servers out there that just refuse to close down for whatever reason. Servers like ODS and Relived (however Relived does get players every now and then). You could think of it like natural selection where any server that isn’t TTR is just not gonna work out unless the creators are exceptionally good. Fellowship and Relived are too similar to TTR (like the toontasks and gags) that they are mostly forgotten easily since TTR is more popular anyway, where games like TTCC are unique enough to actually give players a completely new way to play, and can therefore stick around. While Fellowship is kinda starting to get into the idea of uniqueness, some of it doesn’t really fit, as you said in the video. The only reason TTR was able to prosper is because it was the first server to come out, so all the old players came to that one and stayed with it. Then the newer servers weren’t popular enough to attract more people from TTR, so they died. In summary: there isn’t enough variety in most of the Toontown servers to keep any others alive. If most of them are just gonna use the TTO code and make slight adjustments to it, they aren’t going to succeed as well. They need a whole new way to play and everything. Without enough popularity, people just go back to what is already popular and send the server away.

The most recent Clash update immediately invalidates servers other than Rewritten (which is of course, the mainly vanilla option) with its scope. Honestly I think people should stick to just those two, any more servers will fragment players too much (I redownloaded ODS out of boredom last week and I was the ONLY player online)

God I remember playing Fellowship out of a cheer curiosity in 2015 after being bored from playing TTR within its 2nd year I think? The timeline of events of seeing TT private servers is confusing to remember at the moment. Fellowship was very... generous to new players at the start (max bean parties, starting from higher level playgrounds, etc, etc) and being sourced off of Infinite at the time meant most of Infinite's playerbase naturally migrated there. I never got very far in the game because the TT community in general was just distrusting towards any non TTR server at the time. So I was too and I missed out on the new features it was presenting for late game content. The problems most TT servers faced at the time was the stigma surrounding its developers, lack of transparency, and the fact that people had to start from square one when they likely had a maxed toon in TTR. Toontown isn't a fun game to completely replay repeatedly without the support of an active and populated playerbase (which Rewritten still had at the time in 2015, not sure if it still does in 2020). After watching this video, Fellowship likely died due to the the sheer competition at the time and not having anything that made it stand out from the rest. Why play this less popular server when you can play Rewritten (which is only still alive for being first to keep Toontown playable after Online closed).

i remember i made an account in fellowship 5 years ago just to try it out (which was empty as usual) after seeing that the server was still on after so long i tried to log in recently but my account was deleted XD!!!!

I'd assume Fellowship is the best way to get the original TTO experience with darn near zero changes, so it could fill *that* role for diehards, unless Realms is better for that?

I logged on to toontown fellowship after like 8 years and i was surprised i still have my account... its a ghost town, i remember when this had a lot of people in it. its so lonely, i was the only one playing for a few hours, it seems like everyone forgot about all these other toontown servers and toontown rewritten is the only one being played

While seeing these crazy and weird servers that either attempted tons of stuff with the game, or almost nothing at all, it gives you a sobering realization. TTR is way behind most of these servers when it comes to content creation. Later this year when we get field offices will be the first unique content the server has offered in - ever? TTR is known for its maintaining player base and 'minor' updates like Options and Crash Cashbot, but when you put it head to head with servers like this, it's pretty surreal how far behind it seems.

Well I never said that ttr is better. I’ve really only said I’d get more fun and enjoyment out of ttr. I do agree that the game needs to add more stuff work on new things and push out more. The reason why I say ttr is better than ttf is because ttr at least picks up where tto left off. ttf is just..... bad. Now with ttcc and tooniversal fixing some problems it’s a tough call now but for now Idk now still all 3 great fan games. Also just because servers add more doesn’t make them any better. Other games could add a million more things than rewritten but it really all comes down to the quality of the features that have been added. Rewritten focuses more on quality and do have the better updates but take very very long to come out. Other games with new content are either hit or miss but coming out less. I’d say this would be ttcc but they have been doing better at adding new stuff. So really while I do like ttr they do need to work on a lot more and not take. 4 years on a dang building. It scars me how long it’ll be till cog nation and the executive tower

rogerdogkiller2000 I think I worded that wrong. It’s just they where ambitious on what they had planned to do. They promised it to be soon but I felt Like they where incompetent to add all of those features by I certain time since I head they wanted to get it out by 2019. Don’t quote me on that just heard that. I don’t mean to pressure the team, they have had numerous people leave the team and have few devs but even though field offices are in a bit of development hell they bit off more that can chew on what they set to do. And with cog nation and their other operations again I don’t think they will be able to pull it off.

I tried TTF first, and liked it a lot, but it was pretty empty when I was playing it, so I didn’t stick around for much. I believe my account was lost as well? I was just unable to log on no matter what I did, so that sucked. [Edit] I remember the old loading screen and such, all of these new stuff is completely new to me lmao

Quackity was great in the community but I don’t blame him for leaving since he kinda got tired of it and moved on. He still peeps in the community every now and then so it’s not like he left entirely.

At least for me we know it’s toontown rewrittens background and never claimed to be my graphic made by me. It falls under fair use and like if I used a background from like spongebob or something you know that is spongebob not made by me. Unlike fellowship who when I checked their discord someone said that the tree graphic looked awesome and they where agreeing that they made it.
