My headcannon for my character is that he is a space-faring Gleaner/bounty hunter and most of my glams match that aesthetic. Because of this, I've named my chocobo Kwehzar. I actually never used Kwehzar until I had already beaten EW and went back to level my WAR from level 1 without being able to mount, teleport, or enter duties, and I needed additional support. Since my walkabout leveling, I've actually grown quite attached to Kwehzar and he's now just as much a part of my character as I am!

I names mine Ciel after the "legendary chocobo" that first achieved flight in the Final Fantasy Unlimited anime that nobody knows about. My first racing chocobo was randomly generated to be named Amber Joy, which not only sounds cute but happened to touch on my Lithuanian heritage. So all my racing chocobos are named Amber (happy emotion).

Mine is called Sambucus because my character's whole naming scheme was based on elderflowers and I think that was the scientific name for the plant. The best name I know though is an FC mate who's chocobo is 'disappointment' and the chat messages when disappointment enters and leaves the battle field never stop being funny on treasure and hunt parties.

Most of my birds are named after "deities" from other franchises (Luceid, Fengalon, Sanguine, etc). However, I also possess Chococabra and Kwehtzalcoatl. My Viera, Whiskey, rides Daiquiri (dyed bright red, obviously).

I named mine Fufurinpa. Playing a lalafell, looked up the naming conventions, read ‘bases their names around repetition of Japanese syllables’ and made a Zero Escape (funyarinpa) reference out of that knowledge. That extra damage and aggro management helps a ton

My chocobo is named "Tranquille" after a chocobo I had when they added breeding in FFXI I... wasn't much of a breeder and couldn't handle it after the first time cause the cutscenes made me sad. so I named her Tranquille to honor that. Course, and I know this wasn't in the question, but in FFXV I named by Chocobo "Kweh-sar" so... there ya go :)

Just remember, Chocobos ARE predators; they have binocular vision, after all. Also I named mine Starchaser because that's actually the real last name of my character but I ran out of letters so I had to give her a different last name in the game. Yes I put far too much thought into my characters.

I named mine Bojangles. That name's been used by an early 20th century singer/dancer (Bill "Bojangles" Robinson), a late 60s folk song (Mr. Bojangles), and an east coast fried chicken restaurant chain. The perfect chocobo name, IMO. It's flashy, it sounds like a proper name, and hey, fried chicken. This is on my second character. My first character's chocobo was named Fafnir, which I also liked, but I think Bojangles is better.

@@Pictavienne yes and no. In modern medicine, drugs that work on mammals do not work the same way on avians. The methods we do have to fully sedate birds are still rather dangerous. In attempts to geld roosters (look up capons) there can be a mortality rate of up to 50%. So I suppose it would depend on what level of medicine you think Eorzea generally has available.

i named my chocobo Potoooooooo after the late 18th century racehorse! As the story goes, the horse's new owner told the (kind of literate) stablehand to write the horse's name, /Potatoes/, on the horse's feedbag. Of course, the stablehand heard it as "Pot 8 O's" and wrote Potoooooooo instead 😂

I named mine High John, after the plant. I'm mostly a Crafter/Gatherer. Whenever a legendary node in our area lights up, I have a macro that says, "Come High John! We Ride!" And let's me mount him to go gather it. I love High John so much.

Oh! Might I ask what barding you use for him? My main DPS is ALSO machinist (though Sage is my main) and my character in-headcanon is a magitek engineer so having barding that looks like that could play into her character a little!

@@ProtoHelio1 I use the Queen's Guard barding because I like the clockwork and the metal bits match the armor pieces on my glamor plate. (on a related note, Ul Brown is great if you're looking for a bronze-like color for metals) Pieces of the Ruby, Emerald and Diamond bardings might also be worth looking into, depending on the look you're going for. Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of options for us magitek lovers.

My chocobo is named "Todjaeger" He follows me around. Heals me when im a healer. Pulls aggro randomly when i'm Setting up positional attacks as a melee dps. Dissappears when im ranged dps. And i forget to summon him when tanking. I also don't ride him as a mount usually. ... He's fluffy.

I accidentally line bred my racing chocobos to be pink, so when I get my final ultimate chocobo, their name is going to be "Dancing Sakura" ^^

I have several of them because I have several characters. We have Chocolateoboe, Chocoboe, Identitycrisis, Izacobo, and Belt First two, because of how I was pronouncing Chocobo at first. Red just doesn't seem to know his name, so I just call him blue until Yellow catches his attention. Sometimes circle really likes being called square, tho. Izacobo is based on a character I can't really make too easily on another character I could barely make. And Belt is on my character named Orion :)

The chocobos in my Island Sanctuary pasture are Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and the black one is Midnight Snack. I did it because I was thinking of Menchi from Excel Saga. Crazy Diamond is my main chocobo, while my racing chocobos were always either: Gold Wind, Star Platinum, Stardust Crusader, Shining Diamond (idk why they dont hv Crazy in the race options), and Stone fee (because they don’t have free in the race options) i lucked out and got a white chocobo early on in breeding them, SUPER LUCKY :)
