Girl! If you’re talking about popcorn ceiling then my sister just did this! She took one of those jugs you use for spraying weeds and filled it with water and sprayed the section she wanted to scrape. Once it’s wet, she took a flat edged tool and scraped the textured sh!t off to make it smooth. She had a tarp on the floor to catch the fallout and make cleanup easier. Good luck!!❤
@kimstewart52302 ай бұрын
Yes, this is the best technique!! You have to let it sit for just a few minutes after you spray the water, but it makes it so easy. I saw a KZbin video and a guy had taped the scraper to his vacuum so when he scraped it off it would automatically vacuum it. Genius!!
@MemeMary9262 ай бұрын
We did the popcorn ceilings using water and a large scraper. Spray it down, let it sit, then scrape. Play around with how long/how much water to use. Girl, you got this, it’s not hard, just messy and time consuming. You should take us along for the ride!!! ❤❤

This works amazingly!! If you put water in a Flo-master sprayer with just a little dawn dish soap it helps the popcorn ceiling come right off when scraping

Be careful removing popcorn ceiling this way, it’s so expensive because most popcorn ceiling contains asbestos which you breathe in while scraping and it get on other things & sticks.

Hubby says that spraying water with a spray bottle on popcorn ceiling and waiting 5 minutes softens texture then you can scrape off without having to inhale dry plaster into your lungs. He speaks from experience. Otherwise there will be dust everywhere including plaster dust in your lungs. Just a thought. Maybe get the extender pole with scraper for the scraping part, I know what you mean about ladders/height issue. 🙂

I love your videos😂. Regarding ceilings. Many years ago I wanted to get rid of mine too. I was told to wet the ceiling, a lot, let it set a while, re-wet it then take a scraper to it. MESSY! So, I ditchef that and took joint compound, spread it on generously, created a slight texture ceiling that I can live with. Hella better than the original. Lots of tedious work, but we'll worth it. Good luck dear❤

When I was 59 and my husband was deployed to the Middle East for a year, I scraped my popcorn ceilings off and retextured them myself. I am deathly afraid of heights and we have a cathedral ceiling in the living room. Easiest thing I ever did in my remodel and the messiest. We didn’t have a lot of money to buy or rent all the fancy machinery for it. So it was me, a spray bottle with water and a 6 inch putty knife. Since it was just me here I couldn’t move all the heavy furniture so I draped everything in old sheets and mentally divided the ceiling of the room in 4 quadrants. Got up on my ladder and hand one hand holding on to the ceiling (like that was going to help if I fell lol!), sprayed a section of the ceiling with water and waited a few minutes and just gently scraped it down. It fell right of and made the biggest mess ever! I only did one quadrant a day, so it took four days for each room. Cleaning up the mess each day was the longest part. It turned out fantastic. If you decide to do it yourself, just take your time, it is a very easy process! Good luck!

I've done the popcorn ceiling thing before, and am also scared of heights. If you can get drywall stilts, you don't have to deal with the ladder. I could not. Get like a clothing steamer, and steam an area, and then scrape it, then steam, then scrape. I put down drop cloths, but I think ended up having a friend carry around one of those rubermade totes and catching the peelings with that. It took forever, but was way easier than I expected, and after a while the height got to be less of a thing and more of a "ugh, back up the ladder", at least for me.

The thing with your fingers where you can lock them could signal trouble in the future. I can do that, and it really messed up piano practice when I was younger. At 52 years, the fingers on my left (non-dominant) hand are weak, shake, and have swan neck deformity, the latter for which I have to wear orthotic splints. I do physio daily to try to keep my left fingers progressing and prevent the right fingers from following suit. If I could go back ten years, I'd start doing physio exercise for swan necking. ❤

I sweat a lot too. I have hyperhidrosis. No shame in it! But--if you want to sweat less, there are great products you apply overnight and wash off in the a.m., (or can leave on a bit) and they make you *not sweat* mostly. Like, you could be sweating all over and yet not have sweat come out your armpits if you use this stuff there! Certain Dri roll-on is best for the pits. And Zero Sweat lotion is best everywhere else. All kinds of similar products, too, in spray form. No scent. Try you some! (Never apply right before or after shaving.)

Hi there. I had to scrape the popcorn ceiling in my small bathroom and got it done with a spray bottle and a couple paint spatulas. It was super old and scraped off easily, but it was a mess! Plus, I had to use drywall mud to correct some rough spots, but it looks great now. There were similar problems in my kitchen so I tried the styrofoam ceiling tile method with tiles I bought from Amazon and applied them right over the popcorn. Everyone thinks they're wood. No popcorn mess! Thanks for the laughs as always! kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2KVk6yjnJaqlc0si=lyyYniHfnYjGfZAE

Well Howdy Britnee, although I cannot help you with your ceiling other than tell you to wear some sort of brace on your neck so you use less muscle, I can give you some great advice on your swelling ankles. As you would say, "not to brag", but I have a lot of scarring on my legs which in turn messes with my lymphatic system (at least I am assuming cuz I don't like Drs too much) and it gets really bad especially when traveling. I may be late to this trend but I discovered Dry Brushing and it absolutely works. I started doing this and I'm not kidding, the next day I barely swelled at all. On an active day my ankle and lower leg would be like a third larger than the non swelling leg. I think cuz you are fit and in good shape this is something that could hopefully work for you. And as a huge bonus, my skin is way softer than it ever has been and it helps with the scarring. Look it up and give it a try, I honestly thought this would be what finally got my asz to a Dr but nope, it works that well. Also, I truly look forward to your videos, you say what all us introverts are thinking...Good luck!!!! edit...It also helps release toxins, I get a slight metallic taste in my mouth while doing it.

Only you can do your outtakes. They’re just as entertaining as your videos! Someone said to spread out a tarp, moisten the popcorn texture, then scrape it off. Just don’t get it soaking wet. You have to maintain the integrity of the Sheetrock underneath. There is a tool that is similar to a hoe (not referring to a loose woman) but it doesn’t have a bend in it. You’ll be able to scrape the ceiling from the floor, assuming your ceilings are 8ft. Enjoyed your video as usual. Thanks for always making me smile and laugh.

Popcorn ceiling scraping....is a damn mess, BUT worth it! I just used a spray bottle of water, psh psh psh, soak that baby, then I used a paint scraper, and there it goes. Now I got a little smarter half way through and used both hands which yes, you will need a massage after all this (come see me 😊) but one hand is scraping, one hand is holding something to catch the popcorn. I used a paint tray.... without paint in it lololol.
