Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina are tied for the top slot when it comes to movie interpretations of comic book villains. Their portrayals of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, respectively are well done and written.
@biggains1

I'll second that! With my ONLY minor issue is I wish they had given Otto Octavius a proper villain outfit(I know the comics versions and animated series seem probly be hokey in real life). Though interestingly enough if this had been made today they probly would have gone all in on a villain outfit for him, everything else is so overblown in the superhero movies now anyway 😂

@@Rainbow.Pegacorn.Cosplay Like how the Ultimate comics did it, in the Spider-Man 2 concept art they even based a few of otto's designs off of that interpretation so it was originally considered. In the end, Raimi is a ditko fan. So, arms on the back it was.

Part of what makes Spider-Man 2 so great are the stakes. This film brutally shows the burden of being Spider-Man, the sacrifice it takes to be that anonymous superhero. Something the MCU version took time to establish

The hillarious 180° from Jameson, the epic music swelling, Spiderman swinging through the city, the transition into Dock Ock's glasses and the entire fight afterwards, the random people protecting Peter and his identity aftereards, I think are the best part of this movie *by a mile*

Fun fact: in most scenes, Doc Ock's tentacles are actual mechanical props puppeted on long poles; green-screen is used to remove the handles and puppeteers from the shot, but the tentacle itself is a hard metal prop that reacts to what Alfred does, and he can react to the props, in real time. The tentacles are full CGI when the actor is full CGI or if it's a really quick violent motion; but the scenes where he's talking to them and you can see the arms' personalities, they're actually there.

I love the way Doc Ock's arms were described in the official novelization. It is mentioned that they have a parent-children kind of relationship with Otto. They're not really sinister, they just have their own understanding of wanting to help their dad to achieve his dream. They are very protective and obsessive, but it seems like they genuinely care for Otto, even if it's in their own, twisted way

As much as people call Jameson a ASS-HOLE, he's surprisingly a very decent and compassionate person. remember in the first movie when Goblin demanded to know who takes Spider-Man's pictures??? Jameson immediately lied and said the picture came in the mail anonymously. Just seconds after Peter left the office. Jameson COULD have easily thrown Peter under the bus, but he decided to protect him from Goblin. So there's a sense of strong loyalty in Jameson; even though he hides it with being mean and surly all the time.

Tobey Maguire actually injured his back during the first Spider-Man movie, and before the 2nd one was beginning filming they almost replaced him with Jake Gyllenhaal (Mysterio from Spider-Man FFH) However, Kirstin Dunst was against the recasting (She was dating Jake at the time and she didn't feel comfortable kissing him on camera). One of the best sequels from the golden age of Marvel Films (1998-2007) and superhero sequels over all. Also it won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The original was such a smash. The hype was real for a sequel. Parker dealing with the double life, keeping a job, trying to be happy, etc. Alfred Molina as Doc Ock was incredible and had a great journey as an mad scientist. Shades of everything that we as the fans loved about Spidey from the comics to film. Tobey Maguire almost didn't make it part 2. He had back injuries from working on Seabiscuit (2003) and was a producer on that film. Jake Gyllenhaal was going to replace Maguire. Would've been interesting to see his onscreen chemistry with real life girlfriend (at the time), Kirsten Dunst. There was an extended cut (aka 2.1) released before Spider-man 3 and the extra footage really kicked things up notch.

This movie is the *best* out of the trilogy and among the best live action Spiderman movies. This is because it understood and enthasised one of the core aspects of the character: *Being Spiderman actively makes Peter's life MISERABLE* He can't hold a steady job, he can barely pay his bills, he can't keep up with his studies, he can't have a normal relationship because of the promises he can't keep and so on. The fact that Peter quitting actually made him happy at first, only to feel immense guilt at all the problems he *could* have solved and the people he could have saved just adds to the tragedy of the character. But *with great power comes great responsibility* and Peter ,at the end of the day, does the right thing just because he can. PS: Alfred Molina as Dock Ock was also genius casting. I also love that he mirrors Peter. He was a good man who wanted to do good, but factors outside of his control destroyed his life and his arms affecting his thinking just made him devious and arrogant.

In the comics, it's revealed that Aunt May ALWAYS knew he was Spider-Man. she reveals it just moments before she dies. It's even in the Latest Game too. She sees Spider-Man about to give her an antidote for a virus that is killing her and she tells him to do the right thing and use the serum to mass produce it for everyone instead of her. She then says "Take that mask off; I want to talk to my nephew." Or maybe she says THAT before telling him to save everybody. i don't recall the exact sequence. But it's suppose to indicate that some people know he's Spider-Man and are willing to keep that secret.

Otherwise the Nuclear plants you're thinking of are "Fission" reactors, which have existed for decades. There's a company called Helion that's developing a commercial Fusion Generator, and they already have a bunch of functioning generators. These Generators take the Fusion reaction and turn it directly into usable electricity, as apposed to a "Reactor", where they use the heat from the fission reaction to make steam, which spins turbines.

Fun fact about Mary Janes screaming so much, she actually hated doing it. So they recorded her screams all at once and just threw them in, in post production.
