An interesting fact about Cars is Radiator springs is based on an actual town, Holbrook Arizona. While the people who wrote the movie were traveling, they got off of the interstate into a little town that goes through route 66 and that's how the story was created. There is a restaurant in Holbrook called Joe & Aggies and that's where they stopped to eat, In the film you can see the same restaurant. Also, the Cone Hotel is based on the Wigwam Hotel in Holbrook. And there is so many other spotting of Holbrook in the movie. I find it really interesting how nobody really knows that Cars is based on an actual place. I really like to tell people about this because Holbrook is my hometown and that's how I know so much about this. Also, at one point we used to have life sized Lightning McQueen and Motor in town as a tourist attraction.

Part of Cars is based off history. Route 66 used to be one of the only routes from Chicago to Los Angeles. Many towns were built along this route. When the interstate was built, many of the towns got bypassed just to save a little time. And many towns went under because of this.

The history of the Hudson Hornet even down to racing decals is based on real NASCAR history, they were the kings of NASCAR from 51 to 54, though the reason they stopped racing them is different. Hudson had to merge with another company. The racing program was scrapped and not long after the Hudson brand was discontinued.

I just recently bought a 2017 Cadillac CT6 3.0TT Platinum. Yes, I've been to several NASCAR race tracks. I usually have friends go to Talladega (Alabama) first to see some four wide racing at its finest. That being said, if you want to see some good racing that has some right turns too, I highly recommend IMSA Road Atlanta (Georgia). It's a different ballgame than NASCAR. Both series are good, but seeing a Ferrari, Cadillac, Lamborghini, BMW, and more going around a track is so much fun to watch.

What's funny is, the history of the *real life* Hudson Hornet matches up with Doc's history. With an exception that Doc wasn't tossed to the curb (sorry) the way he says. NASCAR rules required the cars used to race be based on production vehicles with a minimum number of them produced for sale. Hudson had long been bought up in the consolidation era of the car industry, but the new owners had kept the production open but sales had fallen off and they could not justify building the numbers NASCAR mandated, so the Hudson Hornet was disqualified, but not because nobody wanted him/it to race, but because people weren't buying the street-use ones enough.
