Weird History's Timeline is back and is taking you all the way back to 1970. Coming out of the hippie '60s, 1970 would immediately take a turn, quickly shaping into its own identity. From the rise of Black Sabbath to the Beatles breaking up, to the Apollo 13 mission, 1970 would have America (and the world) on its toes. Take a ride with Timeline as we go back to '70.

Best thing about the year 1970 for me is my husband’s birthday in October. His mother was severely epileptic and was told if she ever had a child it would worsen. And it did, but her joy at having my husband made her life extraordinary despite the added hardships from her condition. What’s better than unconditional love to represent the start of the decade🥰

Weird History Should do Timeline 2000s after Timeline 1970s
@dirtyfrench2926
@dirtyfrench2926 2 жыл бұрын
@@NASCARFAN93100 I'm sure that's the direction they'll head. There's a LOT less people who're 60+ watching this. I'd personally like to see the 60's because as much as I like nostalgia, I like the random educational value of a decade like the 60's with so much cultural strife. I lived through the 2000's but definitely can't say the same for the 60's (or 70's for that matter).

I wasn't born yet but I've always been fascinated by the years 70 & 71. No clue why. The 60's were marked by more change but maybe American idealism had degraded into something more obviously selfish, fragmented, corporate, and cynical by 70-71'. Maybe??? The internet has changed us all more significantly since then, but maybe it's just a more concentrated manifestation of that same 70's shift toward fragmentation, corporatism & cynicism. Maybe???

I was born in March of '71,so my entire childhood was in the 70s. The thing I remember most was waking up earlier on Saturday morning than during the school week, so that I could watch cartoons!! Super Friends, Space Academy, Jason Of Star Command were some of my favorites. Star Wars being released in '77 made a HUGE impact on my young mind and set me on the sci fi loving path that I am still on to this day. I consider myself lucky that I was born at the time that I was, because I was a child of the '70s, a teen in the '80s, a young adult in the '90s, and older/mature adult in the 2000's

The thing that really stuck with me as I grew up, though, at the time, I was too young to understand, was all the "Don't forget, hire the vet!", tv ads, billboards, posters, and bumper stickers. It would the early 80s before I really knew what that meant.

My parents 1880s uninsulated rural michigan farmhouse cost $300/month in Jan 1973 to heat. That's $1000 today! And the most epic event of my childhood, the 1978 blizzard, best time to be a kid, ever. Fun fact you may not know: In the 1970s farmers attempted giving weed to cows in order to improve milk production. They finally had to conclude the steaks were too high so they had to disco-ntinue, but the smell was legendairy.

I believe the seventies had the best talk shows of any decade. The conversations were deep and substantive, something that is quite rare on television today. I wish could I go back in time, sit in front of a vintage television set, and watch Orson Welles reminisce about life.

Three things that I learned about the year 1970: #1 both Janis Joplin's and Jimi Hendrix's passing at their age of 27, #2 The Beatles broke up, #3 American Top 40 began on The 4th of July PERIOD!!!!!

Lovely, this was great, these make me rewatch the VHs I Love The 70s/80s/90s series lol. As this was influenced by and other humorous and insightful decade overviews. This will be fun to watch, lots of great music and movies in this decade, got the sprawl of rock to punk and the beginning of the New Hollywood renaissance.
