Suggestion: Jack, the Jack-In-The-Box clown mascot. As time went on, it was decided that Jack, as a mascot, presented a childish image of the restaurant chain. So it was decided to get rid of him, literally. Commercials showing Jack's box being blown up started appearing on TV. This decision led to vocal protests from professional clowns.

For a while, they rebranded as Montery Jacks, to appear more "grown up"n
@KasumiKenshirou2 жыл бұрын
The restaurants had drive-through speakers that were shaped like clowns. They wanted to have a more grown-up image so they got rid of them and had a commercial where they blew up one of these speakers to demonstrate this. Years later, the current Jack (the human wearing a spherical white head) was introduced in a commercial where he got revenge on the executives that blew up the clown speakers, setting a bomb off in their office and taking over the company. This commercial wasn't on the air for long, as shortly afterward an actual (not Jack-in-the-Box related) bombing incident occurred and they pulled the ad.

I really miss when McDonald's was McDonald's. I remember the first time walking into a newly renovated McDonald's and if the food aroma wasn't there, I would not have guessed I was inside a McDonald's. McDonald's use to be really good with their toys too and as an adult now, it makes me happy I was a kid when McDonald's was this happy red and yellow fun house, and you could get some real good quality food and toys. Completely changing McDonald's identity like that feels so illegal honestly. I also miss the old Tim Hortons. It was so good. Coffee and donuts. Just your classic Canadian coffee shop. Now the US bought it, and it's trying too hard to compete with its competitors. It has too much on their menu and food quality not the greatest. It turned a great Canadian chain into a joke. McDonald's bought their coffee a while back so I always go to McDonald's now for their coffee. If Tim Hortons just made better quality food, didnt have a thousand items on their menu, it can still be successful. Some places dont need so much items on their menu. Tim Hortons can do limited time stuff, but trying to become a new Mcdonalds or whatnot doesn’t work. Or...If our neighbours didnt buy it, I might have been able to still get a decent coffee from them. Whatever it is, at the end it is to save time and make more money. Eveything is getting cheaper in quality. Cars, food, clothes, houses - its awful how greedy the world is getting. Sacrificing quality and happy customer's for money. **Edited spelling

As a child of the 70’s, I “knew” every one of these characters. Disney’s movie version of Peter Pan came out in the mid-70’s, when I was 5. My family explained that Captain Hook was named after a famous explorer named Captain Cook, so the Captain Crook creation made sense. But knowing about Captain Cook, I was really getting confused between the names “Hook” vs. “Crook.” Anyway, I had forgotten in more recent years where Captain Crook came from. Glad to get that put back together. Children’s commercials were so fun, I used to ask people which they liked better the “long” tv shows or the “short” ones. We also had Schoolhouse Rock, so it was easy to confuse advertising with pure entertainment/educational shows back then. 😊
