I know. The first Wreck it Ralph was fun & exciting because it had not one, but many conflicts: 1. Ralph wanting to win a medal but he was told constantly that bad guys don't win medals 2. Fix it Felix trying to find Ralph to bring him back to his game before it goes out of order. 3. Calhoun trying to destroy all cybugs before they destroy every game in the arcade. 4. Vanellope wanting to race but was told constantly that glitches can't race.

I said this on the community post but the main thing which really grinds my gears about this movie is how it portrays getting famous on the internet by making a few viral videos as easy and doesn’t address burnout in any way. Welchy, I think you still don't understand what "going Turbo" means. It means precisly what Vanellope was trying to do in this movie. Exactly. Ralph is literally an adult who is obsessed with a little girl which gives me extremely weird vibes. It would make more sense if it were the other way around and Vanellope was afraid of losing Ralph, her protector who looked after her all throughout the first movie and did everything in his power to shield her from everyone else who were out to destroy her. Without him she wouldn’t have that person to protect her anymore and would return back to being completely vulnerable and defenseless.

The first movie showed just how desperate Vanellope was to become a racer, then suddenly she’s bored with Sugar Rush it and wants to join another game entirely?? And now Sugar Rush has a missing character that’s on the side of the arcade machine? It’s so stupid!!!
@spacecadetkaito

I think the overall message of this movie is good for a kids' movie, considering that overly clingy friendships are usually portrayed as a good thing in kids media for some reason. However, i think the problem is that they turned a likable children's character into such a creepy weirdo in the sequel. If they had to resort to that they should have just made an original movie about two friends. This movie really feels like one of the direct-to-DVD disney sequels from the 2000s, where the conflicts are dumb, the dialogue feels like something from a TV episode, and characters act uncomfortably unlike themselves.

So I googled the writers, Wreck it Ralph has 4 writers while Ralph Breaks the Internet only has 2 with only 1 returning writer from the first movie. That explains the first movie's erasure in the sequel. Also I'm suprised the audience score is lower than the critic score, usually it's the other way around for this kind of movies. P. S. Don't watch Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, that 3 seasons long show did Flynn quite dirty. He became the third wheel in Rapunzel's toxic relationship with Cassandra(the toxicity solely came from this character).

@@BelleDraws-i5d Right! All of the movie characters often felt a bit dumbed down in the series. Likely because it was meant for a younger demographic. I will say however that Eugene wasn’t exactly “selfless and noble” for the majority of the movie (up until around the third act); he was a criminal who was willing to leave his partners behind to get himself further. *Edit: I feel like I want to reword/clarify some things. I don't think being a KZbinr or streamer is a bad or wrong career choice.(Hell, at one point, I wanted some kind of content creator job) I think what I was trying to say was that almost all of them said they wanted this as their future career. I think a lot of kids just glorify the job and don't understand it. I wish there was more variety in the future career choices of this young generation. And I know that more likely than not, most of them will grow up to start dreaming about different careers. I reacted to their content creator dreams positively. I encouraged them and told them that was a fine career choice. It was just a little jarring to see my "My Future Career" collage full of drawings of all my students sitting at a computer. Original Post: I'm a 2nd grade teacher and you are so right about kids only wanting to be "famous" on the internet now a days. On career day when I asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" SO many of my students answered with "a KZbinr!" Or "a streamer!"... These are 8 year olds...

I mean KZbinrs and streamers are literally doing what they love whether it’s playing game with their friends or on their own, doing reaction videos, voicing their opinions on things or all the above and they are getting paid to do it. If they are successful then they can actually make a good living on it. Big KZbinrs like markiplier, jacksepticeye and pewdiepie literally make millions and even average KZbinrs and streamers get about or even over 100k a year. It’s literally called getting with the times and accepting that as time goes the world is changing so being a KZbinr or streamer is a pretty solid career. Would you have reacted the same way like “…these are 8 year olds…” if they were talking about the default common jobs that would make them less money? Probably not.

@@jessicacervantes313 while they can aim to become a KZbinr/Streamer they should also aim for another job as most KZbinr/Streamers don’t make it that far. Many don’t make enough enough money from only KZbin. Not to forget that while they may be doing what they love, there’s still so much behind it that isn’t all that fun. For example, bad comments, pressure to maintain an image, people editing you and putting you on the internet, etc. Accepting the change of the world is one thing and accepting reality is another you know.

While I can see that Ralph as being clingy and possessive, I see his pov. His only friend in 36 years wants to leave him and not even tell him she’s leaving. Also Vanellope is the most popular racer in Sugar Rush. The players would definitely miss her even if the racers didn’t. Imo, Vanellope was super selfish in this movie. She was bored of her game so Ralph tried to add something new but she took the new track at the wrong time. Then Ralph busted his butt getting those hearts on his videos…just for her to abandon Sugar Rush for a ‘more exciting’ game. Which again, I’ll mention she wasn’t even going to tell him! She lied to him too! She said she was coming and she didn’t. I just…yes, Ralph shouldn’t have put the virus in Slaughter Race, but Vanellope was being a bad friend, maybe even worse than he was imho. You don’t tell someone you’re coming and then just…not show up without telling them you’re not coming. Plus yes, Vanellope was chasing a dream but it was a bad one imo. This movie basically encourages he going Turbo!!! As for visiting the other games at night, the arcade game characters already kinda game jumped at night. The only time it was a problem was during the day when it would interfere with the players. At night, it’s just some harmless horseplay. Villain Anon takes place in Pac-Man and it looks like everyone goes to Tappers for a drink here and there. Only thing they had to be careful of was dying outside their game. So yeah…this movie was terrible in so many ways. Vanellope was a toxic person, Ralph was seen as the only one at fault and the Princess scene upset me. “Do people assume all your problems were solved because a big strong man showed up?” Bitch! That IS what happened!!! Snow White and Sleeping Beauty literally had to be kissed to wake the fuck up! Cinderella was miserable until she met the prince. Belle saves her prince so I’ll give it to her. Ariel changed her life and made a deal with a sea witch to get together with a prince…who she first saved so I guess I’ll give it to her…though dang she got desperate. Tiana was going to lose her business until Naveen came along. Rapunzel didn’t leave the tower until Eugene showed up Anna fell in love first with Hans then with Kristoff which gave her the courage to save Elsa. Moana…okay I’ll give it to her. She went AFTER the big strong man but she was braver than even Maui at times and determined to take the heart back to Tefiti. So yeah…half of these girls didn’t need the big strong man but a lot of them did! Oh yeah and Vanellope didn’t even have a real cart or even a ‘gold coin’ until Ralph (a big strong man) came along!!! And then they suddenly fixed Vanellope’s code to be in Slaughter Race? DUMB!!! Plus there would be some legal issues when people see Vanellope missing from Sugar Rush but suddenly on Slaughter Race just…ugh this movie makes me so mad. I’m upset that I bought it on blu ray

This whole trainwreck of a movie felt like Disney stroking its own ego for over an hour. But other than that, I liked the message of how a healthy distance can be good for you. Plus, the animation and art style were both beautiful. Everything had this warm glow.

It’s really weird how this movie handles the Sugar Rush characters. We’re led to believe Vanellope and the other racers are no more or less immature than your usual run of the mill characters in the arcade, aside from showing their immaturity by squabbling amongst themselves or losing races. Vanellope specifically is not treated like a literal child by other game characters. BUT, in this movie, the other Sugar Rush racers - Vanellope’s in-game equals - are characterized as literal children when Felix - Ralph’s in-game equal - _adopts_ them! Suddenly Sugar Rush characters are children who have needs and whims to be attended to by adult characters, rather than just existing as video game characters that stand on their own. This totally changes how we view Ralph and Vanellope and it’s just wrong... It went from a funny familial type bond between characters to a gross dependent adult clinging to a child’s friendship. Just awful. This movie is hell.

I remember reading a comment explaining that what Merida said was something like “long may your chimney reek and may a mouse never leave your basement with a teardrop in his eye, hurry back my girl!” the first line is a famous Scottish toast and she is wishing prosperity to Vanellope so she’ll have all the resources she needs

I absolutely hate this movie... It has nice moments but god the character assassinations... The only thing I can think they were actually going for in Ralph's case was with him being constantly disrespected and hated on for 30 years, when someone finally accepted him for him and his first real friendship (Vanellope) he got overly attached. However it comes across as creepy and possessive. It doesn't help he's programmed to look like a full-grown adult and Vanellope is programmed to look like a child. As for Vanellope I really hate they had her go Turbo and write it off as "She's chasing her dreams, it's okay" when going Turbo is a HUGE no in the first movie. Especially since her biggest dream in the first one was to be a racer and be part of her game. She finally achieves that at the end of the first movie only for the second movie to open up with her tired of it. I understand dreams change but for her to completely abandon her game? And acting like it's not a big deal? It doesn't sit right with me. Love your reaction though as always haha you definitely made thesl experience more enjoyable

This movie is a huge step backwards from the first one (it's evolving just backwards haha). Anyways, I was confused because the message of the first one is "stay in your game, don't be a Turbo" but in this movie, they let Vanellope change games which makes the message of the first movie like nothing 1:16 See?! You get me!

18:53 Bad point actually. "King Candy" hijacked the game and had everyone's memories of Vanellope. Sugar Rush still had a leader with Turbo. Additionally, "King Candy" likely took over Sugar Rush since the beginning, but now that Vanellope is in her proper place, Sugar Rush will be out of a leader and the most popular racer. Also, Vanellope can just make whatever changes she wants to her game since she rules over it. She is the princess/president.

"You look like foreskin" made me wheeze so hard and now that is probably my new favorite insult for people that look even remotely like that virus dealer dude. Also Vanelope leaving Sugar Rush actually MIGHT end up in the game being unplugged anyways despite the steering wheel being fixed. Because... At the end of the first movie, it was shown that she was probably _the_ most popular racer, because she was new and her glitch ability was fun and very useful to the players. Mr. Litwhack said the game doesn't make a lot of money in a year, so if Vanelope leaves, the players won't be happy and might play other games. Less players means less money, which means eventually Sugar Rush gets replaced by a new game..

this movie is an example of taking 3-4 already kinda bad ideas, and mushing them together without a plan, yet managing to execute it as well as humanly possible it HAS ALL THE MAKINGS of a pretty good movie, but its just convoluted, overpopulated, and its plot was designed to assassinate the preexisting characters as we knew them

The first movie is really awesome, almost perfect, but they ruined Ralph character and is stupid the part of the internet being so easy. I feel like it would be more entertaining if this would’ve been separated into short episodes where they sneak into the internet when the arcade closes, each discussing different types of topics of the internet from memes to music, business to social media, games to viruses. Just looking into this vast world of what we get stuck into even putting in topics like escapism with gaming, burn out for streamers, how to prevent hackers/viruses, and as each episode goes by we see Venellope wanting to stay in the internet while Ralph seeing the bad side of the internet being an overprotective father/brother figure (instead of a clingy creep like wtf). Maybe even have a time skip of them visiting each other seeing how Venellope adapted with being in slaughter race, sporting an apocalyptic candy theme outfit

Fun fact! The reason Merida's lines are gibberish actually isn't because she's scottish. It's because she's the only disney princess produced by pixar. This is why after she talks the other princesses say that they can't understand her because she's "from the other studio."

I hated that in able to introduce characters like shank and buzztube lady, they had to remove the screentime of beloved characters like Calhoun and Felix. I wanted a sequel where the 4 of the main characters go on an adventure together. This is such a disappointment and I hated the creators behind this with passion. Also, I still bop to owl city's "when can I see you again" original soundtrack for the first movie. That song was a banger

Let's not forget that Vanellopee went Turbo. She's the main character, so what you're saying is Goku can leave his game with out consequences, Vanellopee is the main character, it's revealed in the first movie. Also what do you mean She can pursue her dreams, she's a little girl and not old enough to make her own decisions and travel the world on her own. Pretty sure Ralph tired of doing the same thing as being the bad guy, but he learned to except that it's his job. This movie treats Vanellopee like she did nothing wrong, she went Turbo.

I did say she did wrong the whole movie, I was saying the message started in a good direction, which it did. That (anyone not just her) should follow their dreams as they have a right to feel and explore their interests but don’t do it in a stupid malicious way like she ended up doing… (I also said she did go turbo and everything we learned in the first movie meant nothing now, so I dunno if you’ve took my interpretation all wrong or… 🤣)

if you seen beauty and the beast Bell saying "Kidnapped and enslaved" is extremely wrong and actually makes the beast look bad when all he did was take care of her and helped him find his humanity again and eventually fall in love. the disney princess momment honestly ruins all of their characters... like how you pointed out in Tangled she helped flynn and flynn also helped her because he loved her and cared for her. ect. its so bad. at times how they talk is fine but then other lines...it really hurts the characters.

Yes, this terrible sequel wrecks Ralph and Vanellope's characters, especially Ralph's. The internet jokes get easily dated in the next five seconds, and it's mostly just Disney's saying "LOOK AT ALL THE STUFF WE OWN. BUY OUR PRODUCTS OR YOU DIE!" Oh yeah, and there is no villain, not even a non-villain antagonist. And don't get me started on how the previously 2D-animated princesses look terrifying in 3D CGI. It's too unnerving. After all, they weren't originally designed for the CGI medium, and it shows. Overall, just stick with the original Wreck-It Ralph, which was so much better, and the Roger Rabbit of video game icons.
