Yes this is true.... I have watched many, many a cappella groups change members numerous times.... Austin leaving is as tough as when Avi left PTX.... They lost something special, that certain "it" factor that no one knows exactly what "it" is. Bastien is a fantastic singer, seems like a great guy but he doesn't have the same soul, the same "it" as Austin. Home Free is still going to be phenomenal, but they lost something. I am not complaining, happy for Austin to do his own thing, start a family, I think it's amazing for him. Not hating on Bastien in any way and I know he has a history with Home Free. I don't think anyone actually thinks you can replace Austin but this is changing the dynamic a bit. I don't know if that all makes sense.

0 seconds ago I've seen Home Free live 3 times over the last 3 years and Home Free does do a great show. They are the complete package. I wonder how things will change because if you've seen their live shows you'll understand that much of the humor will change. Austin had always been my favorite member and his personality was always hilarious in the live shows. Also, Tim played most of his humor off of Austin like a comedy duo. I'm not saying that change is a bad thing because the addition of Adam Chance was phenomenal. Austin made his decision. I understand that he wanted his own life and that was one of not being on the road. Adam B does have a great voice and this was a great cover. I'm anxious to see the new direction being taken by my favorite group ever.

That high note at the end was Bastien (Chance just lip synched it). That's fooled a lot of people since it came out. I think the fact that that can even be a question and is fooling people is a testament to all of their ranges. Then you have the grit from Rob come out, Adam Rupp just holding it down and Bastien knocking it out of the park. Phenomenal. I loved Adam Rupp in this as well, he really just nailed it.

It's Basteen. They've said it at the outro, too 😊. Someone else said those high notes weren't done by Chance. It was probably Bastien. He's asked it on Chance's Discord, so I tend to believe them. He's fooled most of us, though. The song itself was a suggestion from Bastien and it's the perfect choice for his debut as it did a great job of showcasing him. I love his vocals, Tim's bass, Rupp's beatboxing and Rob's and Chance's background vocals, overall a perfect performance. I wasn't really concerned that he wouldn't fit in, either. Home Free has a good grasp who would fit in with them both vocally and personally. They've proved it with Chance (and I honestly prefer him to Chris, no offence meant to anyone, as it allowed the group to be more flexible with their arrangements in my opinion) and I knew it would sound different, but that's okay. I don't want a vocal clone of Austin, that would be wrong to both of them. Bastien is his own person with his own awesome but different talents and skills. Overall, I haven't seen much discontent and a lot of supporting comments. Thanks for the reaction.

This was a perfect song for Bastien to show is ability. He does have a totally different quality to his voice than Austin. I don't know if you know but Bastien was in Home Free's B group. They did the tour stuff while the other guys were on The Sing Off. I'm so excited to see and hear them on Monday. As always I truly enjoy watching your reactions to these guys.

My first comment after seeing this was “Now we have 2 soul men in the band”. Bastein’s performance of this song is quite soulful, Rob’s contribution was great( I always wish that we could hear Rob cut loose more often), and of course the arrangement captures the soul of Bonnie Raitt’s recording. With Rob and Bastein I’m hoping we’ll get more R&B, jazzy, bluesy music. Gospel Rob needs to be front and center a bit more. I’m seeing them in September- been a fan for 6 or 7 years and I’m finally able to see them live. I can’t wait!

It was kinda cute to see Abe Sword showing up in the video. He's the guy in black shirt, cap, and shades who beckoned them out of the van and you see him dancing after Rob's soulful "Yeah, baby." He's a long-time crew member and in Adam's D&D circle.

I thought it was Chance too but everyone said that he was just mimicking Bastien and it looked funny so they kept it in. It surprised everyone. He can sing well and he sounded great with the boys. They actually have been singing together for years. Adam would sing with Home Free off and on before. So they are already very familiar with each other and it’s a comfortable natural fit. He was there before Austin was even there.

Tim Foust is the super bsss voice... nope He didnt leave Home Free.. It was their high tenor Austin Brown who was "replaced" by the amazing Adam Bastien... Austin is going to try it on his own.. If you get a chance to see Home Free live.. do it!! They put on a great show... the energy in the room is juss palpable at one of their shows. Enjoy if you do!

Home Free did a great cover of one of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs. Bastien's voice was perfect for the lead. Everyone sounded awesome in the background vocals, Rob with his bluesy sound, Tim's bass & Adam's vocal percussion. Looking forward to more of the new songs with the newest member.

Great reaction and welcome to Bastien! Home Free is going to do just fine! This really is a great intro video/song for Bastien! He has an amazing voice and range! I believe the high note was actually Bastien’s. Chance was just goofing around. Although, he has hit a couple of high notes in a couple of other videos. One of them was “American Pie”. Some say he did it in “Castle On the Hill”.

It was reported that Austin would be leaving in the fall. So when they performed near me, i couldn't pass it up. I was disappointed he's already left. Saw them Aug 2. It was Adam's 2nd show with the group. After the show, I went into one of the bar's at the casino and the 3 Adam's were there. Talked to them briefly and they were gracious enough to allow me to take their picture.

I thought it was Chance, too. Apparently, in the spirit of the song, Chance decided to lip-sync to Bastien (bas-TEEN) teeing off and get us all talking. Getting to hear Rob go low was really cool, too. Tim & Adam kept the Home Free underpinning running, too. The current plan on naming is Adam (Rupp), Chance & Bastien. I think that having Bastien in the group is helping them to find new life for their sound. The re-releases were starting to feel a bit stale, and this let them get past that. This was one of my college jams when Bonnie Raitt released it, and I feel like this was a great version and a wonderful way to introduce Bastien to their fans. I also like that he's in the same phase of life that the rest of the group is; having someone who is out of sync with that could hurt group cohesion.

Adam Bastein sang briefly with Home Free in their very early days, long before Austin. This change really isn't any different than Chance taking over for Chris. They don't sound the same as the person who's spot they're trying to fill, but sound just as good in their own way. Also, I read that the high note was actually Bastein and that Chance was just playing around. I don't know for certain who did it, since they're all so talented.

He was also part of the group touring as Home Free when Adam, Chris, Rob, Austin, and Rob were on the Sing-Off. When Chris Rupp left HF and formed the group 7th Ave with his sister Tristin, Basteen was the third member, with his husband Jerome as the part time fourth, alternating with Kelley Jakle. So Adam Basteen has been part of the Home Free family for 2 decades.
