One would think that now in 2019,racism would be dying down but no,it’s still very much alive. I’m disgusted by how some people can think the way they do about someone who is darker than them or that is from a different country. I deal with a certain amount of racism of my own too and I’m white with hazel brown eyes. I’m Latina. My accent,which is not thick at all, is what does it,but I at least made the effort of learning English completely on my own, with very little to no help. I put a mountain of effort to make sure that once I mastered it,I could speak it and be treated with respect and dignity,and yet I still get bullied from time to time and I get asked too (in my line of work,by certain customers) things like “can I speak with someone else that’s a US citizen”? Like really? The nerve. Sadly, we have folks that still have tiny minds and think that because you are from another county or different color or speak another language, you must be completely incompetent and ignorant and can’t handle living in the U.S or Europe. At the contrary, people like me,bilinguals are extremely good multitaskers and have to read a lot to understand a lot of topics in the second language that they learned,to be able to hold an educated conversation with other people. As if to suggest that Prince Harry and family were racists to begin with. Strange that you would dig deeper into my question than the simple seven words typed.
