I whole heartedly believe THE MOST undervalued part of this podcast fell in the last 3 minutes. When Martyn talks about how he just started therapy recently and how open talk and dialogue can be so self healing and helpful to others as well is such a missed part of conversation and Martyn thank you for being so open about that because not enough people are willing to make a statement like that! My favorite thing about Martyn the way he acts is like he is a fan first and a creator second. So when he says he goes for quality over quantity, he's putting out the kind of content that he would enjoy consuming. And that results in a passion that can't be matched and a high quality standard.

I loved the part where Martyn mentioned becoming an advisor for other creators! In 2021 when MCC Rising happened, I remember Martyn was one of the few creators to really throw himself in with that event, involving himself with the participants and getting to know them and mentoring them - that’s something about him that really stuck with me. It was through that event that he got to meet creators like Owen, who then after his success in Rising went on to make Rats SMP which was such a wonderfully creative and unique concept that involved people like Martyn and Scott - his kindness has really been repaid and I think he’s already setting a great example for the ‘new generation’ of creators just by being there and willing to hang out.

about the discussion at 35:00 about losing subs after life series. I think that's just people that are temporairly subbed for the life seiries and then when the series is over and see an episode they are reminded that their plan was to temporairly sub. Think of it like Life series giving the channel a huge boost and then it tapering off after, but not losing the boost completely because some people will stick around. So in the end it should be a net positive compared to before and after the life series. The comparison just has to be something like right before life series and about a month after. Just saying this as a way to handle that mind goblin.

Martyn and Skizz act pretty different from the way I do, but in watching these past 2 podcasts I still saw a lot of similarities in our way of thinking, that amount of honesty and some of the ways Martyn thinks really makes me feel, if more people were like this in the world I think it could be a lot more of an accepting place. Not everyone is fortunate enough to grow up around knowledge that can change their life for the better. That amount of selflessness with consideration for others is a truly rare, and the way Martyn executes it with his actions is an admirable thing. I’m super thankful for this to hear how his thought process and experiences were it’s a really inspiring story. It also feels super motivating as someone else who is also selfless to go out of their way and try to learn how others think for the sake of good communication, that I’m not the only one. With how “loud” some of the people on the internet (meaning the things that get the most attention) are it can make me lose motivation sometimes, but hearing life experiences like these are a big reason of why I continue this road, remembering the fulfilment of just “i tried, and I have good intentions and if others can’t see that it’s a pity” is so important. I think I’ll try something new today, been meaning to try get a feel for anime journaling so I’ll go do that. (edit: i wrote a podcast in the comments oops)

When Martin said, "Lean into your USP. Nobody can be you other than you. Don't try to be a comedian and like everybody else in the group. Be you and be unapologetically you," lights fired off in my brain. Phrasing it this way makes so much more sense to me than the often-used phrase, "Live your authentic self." I've often thought, "What is my authentic self???" I've had that thought because, from an early age, I wanted to be more like others around me who had a quicker wit or were funnier or whatever. Not that I'm not either of those, but I never saw it. But, "Be unapologetically you" is something I've been striving for without having the words for it. Thank you Martin, and thanks Imp & Skiaa.

Skizz, about your "I can envision, but something has control over my hand so I can't do it": it's a matter of learned skill. This feeling is very common whenever you start something you don't have much knowledge on, or very surface level knowledge. I can say that from experience, as I started several things in my life in last year (thanks to this podcast, yes :>) and that feeling was very much the same. I persisted mostly because of my ambitions, but if I were to just persist from feedback that work would give me, I'd give up. Unfortunately gathering skill is a bit invisible, since it is a process, you won't feel improvement - you can see it judging your work over time, but that's it. But believe me, if you are curious enough (and I know you are! I can't think of someone more embracing that than you, to be honest!), you will be there. Just collect knowledge, ask those builders how they look at things, and very slowly, this change of mind builds up. Just like, in my example, every programming abstraction slowly "fits" into place like great puzzle, but it's impossible to understand deep abstractions without finding out meaning behind simpler ones ^^

@@martyn Sorry, didn't want to put any pressure on you. It just seemed like you had developed a blind spot because you stashed everything there after moving and never paid it another thought. PS: i love your content.

Really related to Martyn's take on his childhood and becoming who he is today. I understood what he meant when he talked about becoming his authentic self. Then how he mentioned that he thrives on honesty. VERY relatable!

Sorry for the long post... just really getting into the discussions... I love it so much... Loving how so open and wholesome (well not on the not having adult jokes -iI'm an adult and I get to have that fun cake on youtubexD, but just the sharing of thoughts, emotions, the connection, the helpfulness) this podcast is! T___T I can definitely relate with Martyn in the sense of trying to fit in and then acquiring skills that may help in other areas of life. I'm aware people could gun for class clown or joker for some traumas... The learning to be honest also happened to me where I just got sick of doing things in the unwritten rules of society -like the good example of corporate politeness -- so I just went for honesty. It doesn't always work out...like some outcomes still feel like I've done wrong or the worst doing so... But it's good to know someone who's been down that path and can tell me that it CAN be okay... or WILL be. Love the helpfulness... Not just from Martyn, not just hermicraft.... But a lot of the minecraft creators I follow and watch and admire tend to have this good sense of community have this in common. During the cross-over, and during the life-series, it's just been demonstrated over and over again, that you all look after each other. With Hermitcraft, I know it's more established due to its history, everyone has to be on board, and everyone has to be compatible, everyone has to adapt, and it's done for the good of the server. You'll hear Docm77 say that the Grian/Xisuma/hermit effect is when people bring in their viewers and are opened up to a whole new other worlds with other hermits. Things as simple as showing other people's builds as a tour. And I am so glad and relieved it's spreading as well! Having pulled along Martyn back into MC, then I got to know Empires too! Through the life series! It's the kind of community that doesn't shy away from interactions, but doesn't force it (you'll see other channels trying to stick close to the one with the most subs... and that can seem so...cringily forced... it's so uncomfortable... and just not fun --probably not for everyone in that video collab too..). And you guys mean the world to me... because you're such great human beings... it's a world I wanted to live in, but I feel is so hard to come by or so artificial in the real world... If you guys are raising kids in your pg channels.. there's hope for the world... I didn't make it through uni coz of crab-mentality... there's none of this helpfulness you guys talk about... by the time I was in college, everything just piled up and I just gave up... You guys aren't afraid to go busting through those figurative doors even while not being sure what's behind it... But honestly, just knowing each other I think your odds of something amazing... are so high... I hope you ride for however long you enjoy it... It's demonstrated the most in the life series where origin from hermitcraft or evo or empires or any other channel or smp doesn't matter... And I love moments like that where Skizz dropped the F bomb... and everyone just laughed... xD It is good to hear good heart laughter/imagine it... just shows how open and accepting people are in the series and where they came from. It's so true about authenticity... It's sad that I think it's because it feels so rare in the wild/IRL... as people become influenced or even pressured into certain ways of living or behaving... Though I have to say, there are also loads of people that tend to pretend in this authenticity in order to rake in views... I'll see that a lot with animal videos, or rescue videos, or kindness and generosity ones... It takesa lot of time and skill to even discern.. Some channels I watch are psychology related to help myself and others -to understand people better... But have had to recently unsubscribe when I realize where that off-putting feeling comes from... Some people in it for money and fame and nothing else... and that's when being desperate for those things or feeling entitled seems to just.. saturate youtube with a lot of awful and harmful content in the guise of authentic, altruistic, candid moments caught on camera or even just obs for games... Thank you for being who you are. There's no doubt it's hard living in the world where you literally need money to just survive and have time and afford a house to sleep in. But the effort you guys go through to be considerate and to be honest about those needs as a human being, even the emotional ones about needing validation or reassurances... just that you make it worth for you as a meaningful, if not just entertaining, content. Congrats to Martyn for going to therapy! I'm so glad you find it cathertic to talk and to be heard, and to know that even the unpleasant things you went through could help others! Lean into your USP -- make sense. But I don't know what mine is other than I enjoy talking to people and learning things... but can't master them. I'm still catching up on the podcast episodes, but THIS has been so cathertic so far... to feel so humanly connected to other people.... So thank you... so much...

Yesterday when i was first watching this video I had to leave shortly cause i got the horrible news that something was up with my dad, He then sadly passed away not too long after. I am now fully relistening to this and it's an absolute comfort while going through the stress of planning a funeral and more with the family when im the youngest of his kids and barely an adult myself. Thank you guys for always making fun and telling us about your amazing stories and more.

Love your podcasts guys! Tuned in when you had 40+ podcasts already, and already watched i think half of them! At this point i'm more interested in Imp anf Skizz podcast channel more than your main channels! Did you consider inviting Pearlescent moon to the podcast? You may discuss creativity, natural talent, and art in general. Also she is such a sweetheart and probably a good person for a podcast
