Today I get out for a little bit and explore a little bit around Batu. Batu is in Malang, East Java, about 2 hours from Surabaya. I came to Batu to hopefully escape the heat a bit. Batu is located up in the mountains and is a lot cooler than anywhere else I've been so far. In this video, I start off in the center of town at the Alun-Alun Batu. I meet some locals at a coffee shop and try a sticky rice treat. I then wander around the area a bit and see what else there is. I stumble across an old gym with a bunch of dudes in there playing badminton. And they were all pretty damn good too. They were really nice and let me hang out for a bit and watch them play. After that I start making my way back toward my hotel, stopping at a couple places along the way. Thank you for watching, and I hope wherever you are you're doing well and staying safe. Hari ini saya keluar sebentar dan menjelajah sedikit di sekitar Batu. Batu berada di Malang, Jawa Timur, sekitar 2 jam dari Surabaya. Saya datang ke Batu semoga sedikit terhindar dari panas. Batu terletak di pegunungan dan jauh lebih sejuk daripada tempat lain yang pernah saya kunjungi sejauh ini. Dalam video ini, saya memulai di pusat kota di Alun-Alun Batu. Saya bertemu dengan beberapa penduduk setempat di sebuah kedai kopi dan mencoba suguhan ketan. Saya kemudian berkeliaran di sekitar daerah itu sedikit dan melihat apa lagi yang ada. Saya tersandung di gym tua dengan sekelompok pria di sana bermain bulu tangkis. Dan mereka semua juga sangat bagus. Mereka sangat baik dan membiarkan saya nongkrong sebentar dan menonton mereka bermain. Setelah itu saya mulai berjalan kembali ke hotel saya, berhenti di beberapa tempat di sepanjang jalan. I recommend tourist attractions if you are in Batu, because I have also visited Indonesia 3 times in 2010, 2015 and 2018 and have explored many tourist attractions in Indonesia. This is a list of tourist attractions in Batu, my recommendation: 1). Gua Pinus. 2). Wisata Payung. 3). Coban Rais. 4). Baloga. 5). Coban Talun. 6). Coban Putri. 7). Selecta. 8). Kusuma Agrowisata. 9). Kaliwatu Rafting. 10). Brakseng Agrowisata. Because when I studied deeper, there were at least 30 tourist attractions in 1 city in Indonesia (1 small city, not a province or region). That's very crazy, if we don't know it will be confused where to go. If we talk about the whole of Indonesia, then the number of tourism in Indonesia is estimated at 4,800,000 - 6,100,000 (This is very crazy, it's only natural that many people or tourists misunderstand tourist attractions in Indonesia). I admit, Indonesia is super crazy about tourist attractions. Too many, confusing and so many misunderstandings. There are even tourists who run out of money and become bummed out in Bali, because they try to come to all tourist attractions in Bali. In fact, I know that the island of Bali has more than 500 tourist attractions. Very insane. I admit that, Indonesia is indeed very crazy if we explore much deeper about the tourist attractions in each city. In one city, there are dozens of tourist attractions, that's all with different, varied, unique, strange things and so on. Visiting Indonesia is like we are players in a giant maze. Because every tourist experience who comes to explore Indonesia will get a different experience. That's so crazy. We take 1 sample, namely Jakarta, in Jakarta alone there are more than 350 tourist attractions (For those who don't know Indonesia, most think Indonesia has only a few tourist attractions). If anyone has such thoughts, it is very wrong because Jakarta alone has more than 350 tourist attractions. This is super crazy.

Nick didn't notice giant apples at the top of the fountain :-) Malang and Batu City are known as The City of Apple. Because indeed in Indonesia at that time the apple could only be found in the region around Malang. Apple first entered Indonesia around the 1930s that brought by the Dutch from Australia then plant it in the Nongkojajar area (Pasuruan Regency).

Alun-alun or maybe you familier with term "town square" is one of city/ town landmark. Javanese town square has unique arrangement. There are 4 buildings facing / surrounding the town suare which are : regent residence, mosque, jail and administrative office (CMIIW if anyone has better knowledge about this). However, maybe nowadays some of the building has already moved to other location, except the mosque. BTW, about the sticky rice, if you still remember when Ibnu said about missing of soybean powder as the topping, that's what you ate in this video, "complete set of sticky rice with shredded coconut and soybean powder topping"

In Jakarta there are a lot of Indian restaurants, its not in your target area, but as you know there's a large Indian community in Jakarta, Medan. One of my favourite Indian restaurants is Little India. In South Jakarta. They have also a lot of Japanese restaurants serving curry rice too. So as I mentioned before to you do your research first before making statements. In East Java they hv a large Nestle factory. Near Batu there is a large Australian joint venture diary industri, one of two in East Java comprising of thousands of diary cows.

20:51 the seller tried to tell you that the apple is sour. Local Batu apple is not sweet. The texture is a bit soft, red and green, and the taste is sour. But if you got an apple from the villages closed to Bromo mountain, it's green, hard and sweet.

Hey nick, there's a very cool place called Paralayang in Batu. Basically it is a place for gliding sport. Though I don't know about the gliding thing, but I've been there twice only to enjoy the scenery at night, you can see twinkling lights of the city below it while camping until the sun rises. I suggest to rent some camping stuff tho and bring your own snacks..

Nick, don't underestimate bakso in Batu/Malang. First of all, the noodles are blue. 🔵 It's blue! I was bewildered seeing it for the first time and when I asked why, the vendor only replied it by saying, "Oh, you're not local?" 😂😂😂 Also, the broth is more delicious than the one you generally get in other Indonesian cities. I dunno. Probably just the typical cold area food: they're tastier because they're produced in a fertile Mountain land? The third reason why bakso in Malang is just in another level is that: it's customizeable. Some restaurants are more like a bakso buffer where you can decide what and how many pieces to put inside your bowl. But yeah. Give us a pleasure to see you devour bakso in Malang, please 🥺

Hello Nick if you visited Malang again try to go to south to enjoy our beaches. We have many beautiful beaches across our coastline. My recommendation is Kondang merak if you wanna enjoy fresh fish or Pantai tiga warna(three colors beach) if you like camping which required reservation before you can enter.

Hi Nick, you should come to Hotel Tugu, Malang. You dont have to stay over night because it's a bit expensive, you can just visit and make a little tour. Its full of art and have many histories.

Nick, when you go to Batu, you might stop by Pandaan, there is good Chinese restaurant which is called Miraza Mey, the food is very delicious and the one of the most famous food is called Ote Ote. It’s the No1. In the whole island.

That orange juice squeezed with that tool is usually more expensive (costs 8k-10k) than the ones we buy in warung with sugar (4k+) because it's pure orange water without sugar added, that's common here..

Batu my hometown, a lot of nice place to visit, here is popular with amusement park like BNS, Jatim Park 1,2,3,4 and the natural tourism (coban Rondo, coban Rais, Paralayang etc.) fyi Nick, that fresh milk is originaly make in this town i thought you already drink it in the place you order yogurt and Apple Batu taste is sour, I think the green one is the real Apple they plant here..
