Hi everyone, Aloha. About 12 years ago a friend gave me a potted plumeria. She was moving into a condo and couldn't bring it with her. I was surprised at how big it was for the size of the pot. (big plant, small pot,) Well now I have many of them. They are all dark red. I didn't know how to care for them, but I kept cutting them, waiting 2 weeks and planting. I recently bought a yellow one. I am going to try to graft it onto a red stalk. Wish me luck. Oh by the way I live in Florida, west of Tampa, very near the Gulf of Mexico. Perfect weather.

You are right about perfect weather. If I'm right Tampa is 99% frost free. It's that 1% that you have to be on the lookout for. Just be mindful of that, b/c plumeria are super cold sensitive and even a light frost could kill it, unless it's older and more established and depending on the cultivar. I live in Lake Charles, LA which shares a similar climate only with colder winters. It seldom freezes here, but it will drop to 28 on occasion overnight. So we have to take measures. You may as well say it doesn't snow but once ever 15 or 20 years, and even then, it melts the next day, Anyhow, I got carried away comparing out climates! Good luck with your plumerias. 🙂

Newbie here- I have a plumeria and I'm not sure what to do for it... it's about 3 foot single stem with 3 x 12 inch fingers at the top. One of the stems tip is black and cracked. I doubt it's going to bloom any and I'm worried it will kill the rest of the plant. I dont want to cut the whole finger off because it will make the plant look funny. Is there something I can do to trim and save this finger on the plant, I'd like it to flower again somehow.

I say cut it. They are always weird looking. In the winter they drop all their leafs and REALLY look weird.

I have two seed pods, four pods total. Any advice for best results? I live in ApolloBeach, FL. I do not have a greenhouse.

They should remain on the plant for about 9 months. At some point you want to enclose them with a nylon or panty hose. They need to get air but when it pops open you'll want to be able to catch the seeds. So just do that and just forget about them for awhile.

Let natute take it course when the pod is ready it will open.when it starts to dip onen at the seam cover it with pantyhose to catch all those valuable seedlings.what cultivar has the pods?
