OK, so I'm busy exporting my video right now (but am going to sleep now, cos it's very late). It's not "exactly" what you were asking for, but it does show off some of my retro stuff which I still own today, and I talk about some other stuff I had... Anyway, l should be uploading this tomorrow morning to YT and will link it here, per your request. Cheers for now!

@@arcadesunday4592 Thank you. I look forward to your vid. If you look at the other video in the playlist by DeathAdder, you can see that I encourage vids where people go through their setups throughout the years. I like DeathAdder's vid even though it doesn't focus primarily on setups from the 90s and 80s, though he does touch on that. The idea is about getting a window into someone's life via their rooms throughout the years.

Yea I certainly remember the importance of getting your own bedroom TV! I got a 2nd hand "Salora" branded TV colour TV which only had "coaxial in"... Yuck! However at the time, I got Famicom, Megadrive and eventually, US SNES (via a strange adaptor) running on that thing! I upgraded to a proper multi-sync 72cm "flatter" screen TV after taking an after school job. I basically bought games with my, erhem, "income", but I did it all myself. I ended up with 4 consoles connected to the large TV, along with a VCR, and a serious sound system, and it looked pretty impressive! I think that small spaces can be used effectively if you lay it out right. Regarding bank accounts - we (my brothers and I) were encouraged to save, etc, so I grew up pretty money savvy, luckily (thanks mom and dad). Anyway, nice idea for a video! Wish I'd taken more photos back in the old days, but I didn't (like you say... Due to cost!). Thougholy enjoyed this video! Lots of interesting stories! Cheers for now!

RF is all you needed. Being able to play when you want and not worry if a TV was in use felt liberating like I was more independent. I upgraded CRTs twice before moving to LCDs. There's still one of my old sets in my parents place (a Samsung EDTV). When I visit, I remember that real sound used to come from the TV. Now, you need to buy an accessory soundbar to get nice sound quality. I'm still using the built-in speakers with my setup here. I remember specifically going after a used TV with color. Who can say that nowadays? It was one of the questions I had to ask each shop when I called about their available stock. It's a shame you didn't take a picture. There's something fascinating about running your eyes over setups made from various hand-me-downs / scraps. You can see how a person made a space or item theirs. They put their personality into the design as much as possible. I find the basic ikea shelves / clean angles in a lot of people's library vids boring. Those people are still resolving the same problem, but it doesn't feel like a lived-in space. I would have liked to see your old setup. Since I know you grew up in a different country, it could offer a window into a time and place with which I'm unfamiliar. For instance, I never heard of the Salora brand.

@@WhatsOnMyShelf thanks for such a detailed reply. Seems like we grew up under similar conditions, yet in different parts of the world. It's so great to be able to relive some of the past, and remember an earlier time, a better time...

@@arcadesunday4592 I heard the phrase this is the best time of your life so cherish it so many times as a kid from adults and through movies, music, and books, but I really wish someone would have told me it was because I wouldn't have any free time and would constantly have to worry about money as an adult.

DeathAdder talked about his setups throughout the 2000s. I added it to the playlist. The idea is talking about your setup or setups throughout the years before you really knew you would want a retrospective. When I took the picture shown here, I was unsure why I was doing it. Like you, I would like to have saved more moments. DeathAdder has more pics than me and even has video. Go check out his vid. I'm trying to get more people hooked on the idea. I have another person interested in putting time towards a vid. I'll add it when I get it.

Good luck w/this idea of yours. Majora T is doing something similar w/a Community PL. These attempts may have worked in ‘09/‘10. Possibly, even as late as 2014. However, there’s is no “Community”. Channel Viewers, yeah but the Community is Dead ☠️

Normally I don't promote my videos but I will have to drop some comments about this project on other people's vids so it can thrive. I'm not going to blame others for not jiving with my idea. You know what it takes to simply get a video on here. Both these ~30min vids were overnight uploads.
