Is it just me or is this version more of a “passionately hopeful” kind of vibe while the original is more of an “Angry and Determined” feel. Both are amazing. Great job!!

Though to be fair, a New Orleans jazz band can sound just as angry and determined as a rock version can. Maybe the feeling is still there, it’s just REALLY subtle and not up front.

Well, MCR was and still kinda is a rock and roll band. Saw them back in the day headlining for someone and they really were in the rock and roll area. Kinda like Fallout Boy. They started very rock, but have changed to fit the times.

@@Roodj1 It's good they adapt. I don't listen much, but the hallmark of a good band is ability to adapt, even if it's rephrasing their thematic elements. Plus some riffs are just fun.

yeah - I THINK part of it is the Yat accent of New Orleans, which shares similarities with the New York accent; both were developed as port cities with large European immigration populations in the 19th century. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_English

My best friend committed suicide the day before this video was released. I consider it the perfect tribute song and a reminder that we have to carry on with our lives even after people we love leave it. I miss you lots buddy. If you are reading this and are in a bad place please reach out to your friends or anybody because once you're broken and defeated you're weary widows must carry on. It's really unfair. Thanks for the feels PMJ. Now I cant hear this song without bawling like a baby.

Thank you. I've decided 5 years later to revisit this video and cry. Even though it's been 5 years, this wound still hurts. It doesn't get better, it just gets different. You will always be reminded of the person you lost... you just have to cope with it. I went into a depression for a year. It was a very dark and sad time. My other friends have made it a lot more tolerable. There's always a thought of "I wish that person was here to see this, or do this with me". I would have dreams that my friend would just kinda... appear in a crowd and I'd run over and give him a big hug and ask where he's been. But then you wakeup and the reality hits you. Just stay strong everyone. You gotta be the one that's living for you and your lost loved one.

Sometimes when I listen to music, certain songs form a scene in my mind. Here is this one (which turned out longer than I thought it would when I began): For many years now, our story's hero, Reg, has been living in an odd world that resembles something out of the 1920s, but with elements of the 40s and 50s, and occasionally things more modern. Despite the oddness of his city, he has lived very well, having great joys and great adventures. One evening, as the sun has almost set, he is walking through his city's largest park, and he sees and hears a band playing this song. The words are familiar, but the tune is not what he is accustomed to. They bring back memories of another life, a life in our world, and he begins to weep. An old, wizened man in a Black Parade uniform, with the insignia of a railroad on his hat and a badge which reads "Conductor" walks up to Reg from behind the band, and they listen together. In our world, Reg is lying upon a hospital bed, surrounded by loved ones and life support machines. Reg has been in a coma for several years now, and the doctors are going to pull the plug. His mother, remembering how he loved the music of MCR, is playing the original version of this song for him, hoping against all scientific odds that it somehow reaches him. The song ends, and the plug is pulled. The band in the park finishes playing, and the Conductor walks with Reg to the central train station. The streets of Reg's city are silent now, save for a faint breeze blowing through. Reg and the Conductor board a train, the only train in the station, the last train that will leave this station, and the train departs, bound for the Otherworld. The Conductor hands Reg a bundle of papers. "You received quite a number of telegrams, young man." Reg reads through the papers, each of which is a message of loving farewell from each of his loved ones. Reg cries, responding aloud to each message with his own statements of love. "I love you too, Aunt Georgine." "I love you too, Cindy." "I love you too, Alex." "I love you too, Mom and Dad." The Otherworldly train passes the last building in Reg's city, and travels into the mists beyond.

At first I wasn’t feeling the New Orleans aspect, or even the marching band part, but I waited and then it was there. I felt it!!!

The most apt song for a tonally different cover from MCRs catalog is Headfirst for Halos in my opinion. I can hear a tonally upbeat version in there somewhere totally at odd with the very dark lyrics.

Joey could sing me the phone book and it'd sound amazing. This was perfect. Every aspect, but damn does Joey have the best voice. Every PMJ cover with her is gold. Hard to beat the winds, either. Can't say enough how much I love this.

This is amazing! I honestly can't express just how much I love this! Such a deviation from the original! And of course you had the perfect vocalist for this! As soon as she started the first thought that went through my mind was "Of course Joey is doing this! It's only proper." I have so much more to say but I can't even put it into words. This is easily up there in my favourite arrangements and performances from all of you! Bravo! And may nothing but good fortune follow you all!

I like the attention to detail to early Louisiana Jazz or Dixieland Jazz because alot of early jazz bands used a tuba instead of a double bass. I also like the touch of not using a drumset as it didn't come into play untill jazz started to kick off between the 1910-late 20's

Your performances are so much fun, Joey, and I love the songs you perform. I don't know if you choose them or if you are chosen for them, but you do them so well either way. This was a fantastic choice of style for this song, the jazz and the themes of the song reminded me so much of seeing a New Orleans funeral procession, which I'm sure was the intention. Excellent arrangement as usual, Scott.
