Is it weird I get different vibes from this song than I do the original? Like, the original sounds like a whimsical circus-y cackling supervillain who actively knows he's evil and relishes in it. This one sounds a lot more like the singer was at least well-intentioned and naïve until she was broken by the inherent chaos of the internet. To put it another way, the original song is Emperor Palpatine and this version is Darth Vader.

Here’s some healthy coping mechanisms: -Cooking/Baking (I actually use/used this one a lot when my grandmother died, we baked a lot together so I wanted to keep the memories alive) -Drawing (you can draw what you’re feeling or just scribble all over the page to take out stress!) -exercising (but not to much to the point where it fully takes over your life and you forget to eat and just run) -LEGOS (I know it sounds childish but LEGOS can help you express your creativity, and let’s be honest it’s satisfying clicking them together) -sewing (Again you can express creativity, and don’t care if it looks ugly every one starts somewhere!) -reading (but don’t do it to much to the point where your coping mechanism is escapism which is NOT healthy) There are a lot more but those are the ones I used/use! ❤️

I feel like this song doesn't feel as evil as the original. I imagine the songs from the perspective from some suit at a tech company, a quite literal personification of the internet. The original has gives off a feeling of dread the more you think about the lyrics and how the stuff described actually affects you. All while the song has a happy upbeat mood (Until it gets a little darker) and the singer laughs evilly, and revels in what they've done. Maybe Burnham is just better at sounding evil. Not to discredit the cover or anything, your voice is absolutely fantastic.

This really gives off similar vibes as the original which is quite rare with covers, though it's a more "secretive" version. I think the point of the song was captured, in my opinion, softened to a more disguised way of applying the lyrics- if that makes sense. Though, at the same time, it sounds as if these two are some sort of psycho couples like a Joker and Harley Quinn? I get mixed feelings from this song which makes it even more interesting! "You know, it wasn't always like this" sounds as though a villain is about to explain their tragic backstory where they were either manipulated and controlled, mislead or simply misunderstood by society. Following the laugh, it sounds as if the villain is trying to convert someone onto the bad side, sort of showing them how controlled they were by society. By the way, I love your voice! Also, your laugh gives me villain vibes and I love it
