We have to appreciate every day, how fortunate we are to be experiencing nature at its fines t, fly fishing brough us there.

Another lovely video Chris, very enjoyable. The jungle on the Creedy is like a lot of the streams here in Estonia. I have often gone blue lining to find new water and just come away because the undergrowth was impenetrable and even if I got to the stream it was more often than not slow and muddy. I am still experimenting with my filming. Off out today to try a couple of different set ups - will find one that works for me eventually. Thanks again.

It's all trial and error this filming lark, the technology is improving all the time and making it much easier for us amateurs. There's a lovely Dartmoor stream I know of that I once fished that is much the same, I think I managed two casts all afternoon! In a way I think that it's good there are still places like this that haven't been "tidied " by humans.

So nice to see Bees finally working this year. I had to film it 👍

My grandsons came to visit recently and so I asked them whether it was merely a "getting older" phenomenon that the year seemed to pass by so quickly? Surprisingly, they disagreed yet no one could really explain why. As for the Creedy well, you can see it's potential but, it would require a considerable amount of effort to improve access. The last fish on the Yeo was a lovely trout, in point of fact, they were all lovely fish especially in this most extraordinary season. Enjoyed the new camera and thanks for posting Chris.
@chrismatthewsflyfishing77246 ай бұрын
Thanks Peter, the other question is why does time fly by when you're fishing but drags at work? And are the two phenomena linked?

@@chrismatthewsflyfishing7724 Hi Chris: "The Lord does not deduct from a man those hours spent fishing" Thank heavens it wasn't the other way around. Like many, when I retried I was under the illusion that I would have plenty of time by the river but being an unselfish sort it just hasn't panned out like that. Still, I enjoy every minute I get the opportunity.

Well done for giving it a try Chris! There must be some bigger trout in these overgrown streams that don't see an angler. Great viewing as always
@chrismatthewsflyfishing77246 ай бұрын
Yes, Davie, there must be miles and miles of streams like this that never see an angler. I bet some big old trout live out their lives in the same deep pot completely protected from above( I think Mr. Otter might still get in there, though).

Valiant effort on the Creedy! Faint heart never won fair trout😅 Tiny streams are very challenging even when accessible. The hindsight tends to cancel itself after about 12 mins on mine, but alerts me that it's switching off. Hope you sort it! Back on the little flies again here. 👍👍 Cheers, Dave
@chrismatthewsflyfishing77246 ай бұрын
Ahh, interesting, Dave. I think it was about 10 or 12 minutes when it stopped working. I'll have another play with it sometime. It is useful if the fish are rising ( a rarity this season).

@chrismatthewsflyfishing7724 Yes, nice to capture the rise and strike. Takes about 4 years to keep arm, hands and sleeves from blocking it 😂

Yeh, that first stream looked a bit too overgrown. But a good adventure 😂. Reminds me of a beck I sometimes fished on the moors out of Sheffield. Cheers Mr 👊
@chrismatthewsflyfishing77246 ай бұрын
Im sure I remember it as being a bit more hospitable. Maybe I've confused it with the stretch further up, or perhaps I'm just getting older?

My god that first stream looked hard going Chris. 😂 A few of our local burns are carbon copies that seem to have got a lot harder as I have gotten older. Well done for having a go!

Hi Fred, yes these overgrown streams definitely get harder as the years go by.

Well done Chris, challenging fishing on that first stream! Ive ordered 2 of “Mr Trouts” furled leaders in 3ft and a 4ft length, i was out a couple nights ago and recorded it if you want to have a look, and maybe give a few tips 😉

Yes, Brian or perhaps an army of chainsaws 😀 I think if it wasn't so remote, the club would clear it, but we have a lot of water to maintain and only so many hours 👍

Hello Chris. I think I have watched all the videos now. I also grew up in Devon but only took up fly fishing a few years ago and I now live in USA so never fished them though I know the area well. I do have two questions... are the fish in the CFFC all wild / native or are / were the rivers stocked at any point? Have any rainbows made into those waters from fish farms etc? Second questions is about your landing net. Is the extra foam for protecting the fish or for floatation reasons (or both)? Never seen that before.
@chrismatthewsflyfishing77246 ай бұрын
Hello Simon, and well done for watching all the videos👍 The club doesn't stock any of the beats we fish, and as far as I know, they never have. I will have to ask some of the older members if the rivers were stocked before the club was formed? There might be some stocking on the Culm above our beat, and I have heard of the occasional escaped rainbow being caught, but not for a few years now. There are no fish farms on our other rivers. The net foam is purely for floatation (although I suppose it might protect the fish) years back, my net detached itself from the magnet and sank. It somehow became entangled in the bottom (a fallen tree branch, most likely, but the river was coloured), so I yanked it out, which ripped the mesh!! A floating net solves this problem and has the added advantage of "keeping " the landed fish safe for you whilst you sort out unhooking it. Where abouts in the US do you fish? Chris
