I am Canadian, born in Montreal and have visited Knowlton, the eastern townships and probably little town that look like Three Pines. It's a beautiful area - very country-ish. I have read ALL of Louise's books -- all of them. I have the newest one on order. Her characters are unforgettable and yes when you are reading her books you kind of move in there with them and become part of the story / setting for a while. I would love to find Three Pines - and Olivier's Bistro someday.

I, too,have concerns about the casting of Nathaniel Parker for Inspector Gamache. It will be telecast on CBC this Sunday, September 15th.

On it's own it was a great made-for-TV movie. It looked beautiful and the acting was good. If you compare it to the book it will drive you mad. Lol. Agent Nichol for example is prettier and funnier than in the book. But Beauvoir having an Anglo accent is unforgiveable. Lol. x

some more Ganache stories into film please. Nothing wrong with casting. Ganache went to Cambridge so he speaks English with an English accent. FINE.

Three Pines Is St-Sauveur, in the Laurentians. Tom deVolpi is Olivier. My Mother, RIP or at least some peace, is Ruth. Paule Brunelle is Mme Gamache.... and on and on... Drugs come from Morin Heights, Home of a world class recording studio.

He's not American, he's Canadian; but, the actor has more of an Anglo-Canadian accent as opposed to a Franco-Canadian one. In the book he was French-Canadian of course and as a result I foresee them leaving out his jokes about Anglo culture, etc. Lol.

Oh, sorry! I shouldn't have assumed he was American! Oh well, it isn't a big deal I guess, but I treasure these books so much, and I want the movie to be as close as possible to them.

Could they really, really, really find no Quebecois actors? While I like Nathaniel Parker as Lynley, I would never ever picture him with a fake Quebecois accent as Inspector Gamache, just as I would never ever imagine Gamache with a British accent.

Has that Lemke guy even read the books? He calls Three PInes the kind of place some one retires to only to be "killed by some psychopath" Um, no, actually. I hope this doesn't bode ill for the film.
