I’m glad the below deck compartment hatches are secure.

Thanks vipertt100! Appreciate your good will! Keeping below decks warmer is an important part of this survivability condition too! And hey...have some Swiss Chalet for me!

It was great seeing The Sullivans rocking slightly in the water after we almost lost her 2 years ago. She seems alive again. I will donate what I can towards dry docking her. I miss a deck under my feet

Kirk, thank you so much, and I agree. The ship is built with the Sullivan boys and their mother embedded into her. We have to solve this issue, and we will, the survivability plan is a stong one, until we can get the funding! So appreciate your help!

@@BuffaloNavalPark You're most welcome, every time I think of her I think of that families sacrifice. I can't believe how they managed to recover, a strong faith in God is the only explanation to me.

This is USS Cod in Cleveland... we'd like our Lake Erie water back please. The storm is blowing our water to your end of the lake meaning Cod is fully on the bottom.
@BuffaloNavalPark9 ай бұрын
Sorry Paul, it's the nature of the beast! I'm hopeful the water has "sloshed" back your way. Croaker is frequently on the bottom here. Is that a rare event for Cod?

It really has been rather wet here in the northeast recently, hasn't it. I'm over in Ct. and with the amount of roads that have 3+ inches of running water or even more standing water, on them around here feels like New England is trying to make up for the lack of proper fords. Was out at Falls Village around a month back and it was so f***king loud. Normally it doesn't have tons of flow. With all the rain, the Housatonic River at the falls there drowns out everything shy of yelling at the top of your lungs.
@BuffaloNavalPark9 ай бұрын
Wow...thanks for sharing your plight in Conn., whyjnot420! Sounds harrowing too! It's easy to get swept up in running water like that - or at least to have it trip you up! Stay safe and thanks for watching!

Hope that the seiche doesn't damage the ships in the river during this storm. It's certainly is nasty out there.
@BuffaloNavalPark9 ай бұрын
We've kept a close eye on the seiche. This time around it wasn't as bad as in the past. It can be quite drastic, but three - four feet isn't anything like we've seen in the past. Appreciate your concern and we'll keep you updated!

Shane of the Buffalo and Erie Naval Park- hope that you guys there have bubblers in place around the USS Little Rock, USS The Sullivans, and the USS Croaker.
@BuffaloNavalPark9 ай бұрын
nx014, yes. I believe we have four around Croaker, and six to eight around Sully. Most up to date data shows the lake is still about 40 degrees. We will turn them on this week (not my decision, but assuming we will), as today is a cold one, which will decrease the temp! Thanks as always!

Is there a way to set the radar like a weather vane for high-wind events? I know they do that with the construction tower cranes so that they keep moving in the direction of the wind so as not to cause damage.
@BuffaloNavalPark9 ай бұрын
Thanks a great thought, bluerebel01. Maybe just let it spin, if I get what you're saying...we'd have to make sure the mount and surrounding structure is stable. I will bring that option to the table! Appreciate it as always!

Well, hey, at least the boom you have to worry about is a different category of boom than was a major concern in the mid 1940s! 😁
@BuffaloNavalPark9 ай бұрын
Ha! Very true, Scotttfw7169. The closest calls on Sully and Croaker were a plane they shot down scattering debris as it broke apart crossing the beam on Sully, and Croaker surviving a dud bomb, that hit the deck and punctured the superstructure, leaving a big hole, but did not detonate! Thanks!
