Such a beautiful, inspiring video! I grew up in New York, but now live near Houston, Texas and, as it is 97degrees (F) today, Fall is really just a state of mind! I recently signed up for The French Channel, but have put off watching anything, but you have motivated me to begin. I studied French in high school and college - over 50 years ago - and took French "lessons" for several years with a Parisienne lady whose husband's job brought her to Texas. We actually just met a a local French restaurant and spoke French for an hour every week. We became good friends but unfortunately, she moved back to France last year. I bought your lovely book, but again have put off making anything - just looking at the photos and drooling - but I think I will make the pear tart this week. By the way - I love the photo of you on page 176! And yes, you look very tall in the videos. About your height, you would say that you are 5 foot 10, or maybe 5 feet, 10 inches tall. I understand about the problem with pants legs as I am very short! You sound and look very busy but please know that your videos are much appreciated and enjoyed. I am so glad that you take the time to make them. I feel like I have a wonderful friend on the other side of the world.

Just adore your kitchen. Why do you have two stoves in it? I grew up on a farm and a wood stove was what we had. Why did you want one?

In the winter we will use the wood fired stove to heat the space and we can cook on it at the same time. In the summer we didn’t want the heat of the wood fired stove so we have a gas one for the warmer months

Thanks! I thrifted those doors and they were painted in 3 or 4 different coats of paint. I spent 3 days sanding and stripping them (3 days per door that is! It was horrendous). We will probably paint them because Olav really doesn’t like this look… You could whitewash yours or give them a thin coat of paint and then sand them down again to try to create this kook
