Bought a 140t about 2 years ago, the after letters just mean where its sold i believe, anyway mine had the switch and came with the gun, haven't got used to it yet, welding in cab corners was a real learning curve...My miller that was stole i could weld sheet metal perfectly, gas or innershield, had it 30yrs, Lincoln settings work much differently, takes getting used to i guess. Pricks didn't get my bottle with the ball guage anyway. One of these days ill try aluminum.

Yeah, practice is the only way to get good at welding...steel or aluminum. I had another welder stolen and then just replaced it with a better one..140 with more settings..that's why I converted this one for aluminum only. Keith 2guys how2

Super ironic my shop happens to have the same Lincoln 140 and I ironically am looking this up to see it it works good on welding aluminum.. happened to be the exact same flat bottom aluminum boat that looks the same besides mines an alweld. Looking to do a keel delete for a outboard jet. And hope this weld's a good strong weld

It works good..just practice a little and get used to it..it will make good , strong, welds. Saves money, when you fix things yourself. Keith 2guys how2

Is This this the only way to go about welding with that Same Lincoln 140. Or could you run a cheaper harbor freight spool gun. Thanks
@2guyshow2thefishkingz892 жыл бұрын
@@Indianaangler You can try a cheaper gun, if it mounts and connects okay....but you still need the toggle switch to make it work correctly and that Lincoln gun comes with the switch and instructions...easy to install and will be welding in 30 mins.. The part number for the switch you need is in a reply, I sent to another viewer.

What temp did you find works the best

It depends on the thickness of the metal...thinner less heat..thicker more heat. Just takes practice. Keith 2guys how2

Hi,do you have the link for the ebay seller?

Just look for the Lincoln spool kit for welding aluminum...they changed the part numbers..but, the same unit...I got lucky and found that one for a good price.

Can I use this spool gun on a lincoln T-170 Mig welder and is my machine listed in the manual for the spool gun Thanks
@2guyshow2thefishkingz892 жыл бұрын
I checked and I don't think so..unless, you change the inner lining of gun cord and match the gun tips..that allow you to use your current gun. Aluminum is very soft and it can't travel that long of a distance, without tangling or breaking...that's why the spool of wire is close to the gun we installed. Closer the wire is to the gun..the less tangled and break that occur. They might make a kit...not sure. Keith 2guys how2

So it can only be left as aluminum or mig but not both at same time?
@2guyshow2thefishkingz89 Жыл бұрын
One machine cannot be set up for welding both aluminum and steel at sam time. The aluminum spool gun cannot do mig wire and the welding sheild gas is different for steel welding...so, we just have 2 machines in shop... one machine for welding aluminum and we have another machine for set up for welding steel. Hope that explains it. Keith 2guys how2

@@2guyshow2thefishkingz89then what is the toggle switch for? Can I switch between MiG and spool gun?
@2guyshow2thefishkingz89 Жыл бұрын
That's correct....we have 2 machines...one we use for steel welds and the other is set up for aluminum welds. If you swap the guns and use the toggle switch...it will weld steel...but, you have to switch between guns.

will this gun work with my lincoln 140C ? Thanks..Great Video!
@2guyshow2thefishkingz892 жыл бұрын
Thanks, for the comment. I think this will work on your unit.... Open your case and see if the wires and plugs look the same. This spool gun has a few different model numbers I believe...they changed it to make it sound better..same gun..new or old number....check out the new and old numbers, to double check capability. It should work and plug right up to it. Keith 2guys how2

@@mikemccombs4834 You can go to Lincoln's website or call to get the proper part numbers and either buy them from them or go online with the correct part numbers and buy for cheaper, if possible.
