UV and Ozone lamps can do the same thing. I only looked a few seconds from 8 watt bulb 6 feet away. My eyes felt like sandpaper for 2 days. Best not to use them.

Anyone reading this don't look at any welding videos for any more then 10 seconds you can still get welders flash through watching videos

This didn't read like a joke which is really sad. I worked as a welders helper for awhile and luckily always had the wherewithal to use my hood or just not look at the arc.

@@michaelinglis567Hey, I am a HS student learning welding and I was using a fixed shade today and accidentally looked directly at the beam for a split second(hood down, visor half n half to find out if we were striking; we were)… now my eyes feel weird and I’m very worried. This is “ok” right? I checked with my eye doc and he prescribed eye drops and sunglasses for a bit.
