My fingerprints were probably on that tractor when it left the factory in 79 - I worked in the parts department pulling kits for the factory next door. Besides picking parts, I unloaded tires that were delivered, shuttled CV joints from parts to the paint shop and moved via forklift engines to final assembly.

This, the best maschine with the most comfort goes to the most senior operator. Our close to retirement operators mostly get a new excavator/Truck 3 years before retirement. Holywood and Legarms can ride it when senior wont climb the ladder anymore.

Repair, Rebuild, Recycle, Restore then Replace. This is how I became a very wealthy man. Not only did you save money from buying brand new piece of very expensive equipment you get the satisfaction that you did a job well done. It is always great to see people use their hands and their minds to get ahead in life. This was a beautiful restoration. Stay warm and dry my friends.

It's great to see so far 2 generations working towards the same goal. There will be a third generation working on the farm faster than you can imagine. The children learn early to later take over the farm. This has been the case for centuries and it will continue. This is what has kept farming going through eternal times.

First, give Dad the new one! :-) My parents took me to Farm Fest when I was probably 15. Way back in the 1970's. I remember getting up in a Big Bud and being amazed at the size of it and how big the cab was! You could walk around in there! Then I never saw another and didn't know anything about them until I started watching your channel. Thanks for the memories you all. Good work on the rebuild!

You can usually find them in Montana for as low as 100k but they would be pretty worn out. Some nice examples go for 250k

Yes it pains to see the combines outside but i am sure the Welkers feel that much more than even we do! Buildings cost big bucks and then taxes afterwards so there's that to think about too.

I saw on insta that they have just taken delivery of a brand new grain bin, so as long as it's built up by next harvest they won't have to store grain in their equipment buildings.. problem will work itself out...

Agree, Need to make that in a decal and add it to the monster of a tractor. Great job to all who worked on it. I know putting your own sweat n blood into restoring means so much more than sending it off and have someone else do the work. That's why I like your channel so much. I grew up on a alfalfa farm and you didn't have the luxury of having someone else waiting to work on a breakdown.

I vote for Dad to get it. We are the same age!! I saw my first one at the FPS in the late 70's. With the FFA teachers permission we all cut school for 3 day's in IL. It was at Malta IL.Also Love the Bible verse in the video.
