Well. I'm stranded. This sucks. Work day goes off the RAILS!

To say this work week is a busy one is a massive under statement. I have the 1968 Pontiac LeMans race car project to move forward, the Pontiac 350 block is still sitting here and needs to go to Bob McVay's. The PT Cruiser project is sitting waiting, new clutch is sitting here in a box. The GMC Syclone needs a whole host of things done to get it ready for Hot Rod Power Tour 2024. The VERY first step of that being, I need to go pick up my new tires!
Unfortunately as you'll quickly see, the best laid plans, sometimes go right out the window before Step 1! We pick up the action with me stranded on the side of I-270 in Columbus, 2 miles away from where I need to be, with my 2001 VW Passat shutting off and refusing to start. So, ya. Get out the camera and we'll see how this goes!

Sounds almost like me today. Found a fibreglass bed cover that matches my Indy truck , nlue with the white stripes. Was gonna take my car trailer and go get it. Battery in the V10 was dead , so I had to take the Indy truck and a rachet strap , and tie it down. Got it home .

1. Fuel pump (you’re done, call a rollback) 2. Engine speed sensor (let it cool off and see if it will start). 3. Ignition switch (do the dash lights go out when you let go of the key?)

Looks like I called it. Depending on which engine code your car has, the ESS is $25 - $75 and is an easy fix if you have access to a lift.

as a audi/vw tech for the last 8 ish years id say make sure all ur wires going to the engine speed sensor are good and replace it. you were not showing any rpm while cranking id say thats ur main problem. plus thats a cool car try to sell it to someone who will apricate it. if or when you sell it not a ton of manual 1.8t wagon passats left out there and that one looked pretty clean!! and as another fat bearded guy i can relate haha!

I've watched many of your videos. Taking into account that at some point you have an issue or two how many cheap tools sets do you have that you never bring with you? 😊 Honestly I don't think just a tool kit will help this time. I had a vehicle that kept throwing a cam sensor code. Funny thing is that engine didn't have a cam sensor and it ran fine.

For me , it's not "when it rains it pours" it when it rains it turns into a tsunami. Lol and I think Indiana and Ohio are in cahoots on the road construction thing , we drove up to Wabash Indiana Saturday, to go to the drive in theater ,and most of the way was construction . Maybe you should learn a little German so the VW thinks it's in the motherland and cooperates. Lol 👍

i had a 1988 ford bronco it stop on the road ( last time at a ice cream spot! i come get you we figure it out it started ran home i guess it wanted ice cream when store was closed!) like 130 am in the morning! the police called a taxi take me home pay them! ok ps come back get it in the morning before 11 am tow truck or drive it out here! my repair shop joint owner called me & dealer gave me crap after over 3000 dollar repair goof on billing I ate on full engine mod & over haul! gearing trans the whole works to! (what a fool then stole all bill money off me to pay the parts bill he did not pay the parts shop parts bill for months where the money go to? now what it shut off at 130 am morning in new York state! its night mare he lied in court to! it a night mare best forgot it a ground wire to the fuel system & fuel pumps( ok i was in a 9/11 type deal & DNA proof i sick from being on the base when the 4 USAF thunder-birds crashed and died in 1982 the planes were painted red white and blue! we don't need a court case just orange jumpsuit & life time stay in gitmo! there terrorists now! opps the Doctor your been sick over 35 years yes the sumac in my blood stopped POS test for it but DNA had i a 100% max i the guy direct relation! for what was a 100% death rate cancer! my relation lived threw it! i had a 2006 dodge suv crank nothing it would not start called tow truck come in morning I am AAA plus 250 mile rv towing! ok here he here the key i not ready to go hit key it starts i took it to town shop it was zero oil presser in the sender error code it had oil pressure like 50 pounds the computer stopped it from starting! it clear code & had pressure it started! ok i got a v6 gm 4.3 & supper charger vein thing it not on till speed you limp around back roads or tow a trailer camper it computer control I saw it let loose one time it a 4x4 truck in 2 wheel a police thing it was used ok it ran better then any thing i saw right down to 440 mag 1969 to mid 1976 cop cars dad was a top station chief the Sargent oh no i saw turbo ford & fast chevy's for operation speed a fed back speeder program ok the flatten VW rabbit to! OH my the rabbit verses run away semi truck = DOA 2 officers really the truth! they had the car 2 months before ps you run this have a police car IE a 440 dodge handy! have 2 cars! ok did died in 1993 ok before he died he got sick was in hodpital i was pulled over on my birthday i told officer he was sick & boaldo a police man working out too at work! there was a GYM there the owners kids were weight trainers they had me training too! i worked on big semi trucks too!
