Brother the fact that this machine is going back on the road and not crushed makes you a legend. All these heroes that think thy are the man, when in reality they are sitting in their pajamas wishing they had something to do other then be critical of people doing things, can bend over and run into a wall and love themselves.

I personally think your making the right move! You have everything for the rear liftgate. It screws to the hinges at the top with 4 screws on each side hinge mount! Nomads are a monster project where most people have no clue what it takes to just make the car complete! Have fun and Happy New Year👍

55-56 has a smaller axle bearing than the 57's along with those bearing retainers and the 57 rear end bearing cups as part of the housing itself. Third member center sections work from 55-64 as you said is correct 😎🏁

29:15 Lift gate pot metal; most chrome shops have a side person that can weld pot metal……Saying that, Your in the middle of “Way up North”……..A thought would be to take it to Tennessee on your future trip and drop it off at a recommended Chrome Shop for repair and welding. Probably take a couple of months to get done. Then pick it up on the next run, or if anybody visiting from the States, have them bring it up.

Keep the faith brother. Sometimes we get overwhelmed with our progress or lack of it and we are just over it. When we have a ton of money in a car that is not our dream car, you tend to lose interest in it and just want it to disappear. Make it into a driver and by spring there will be people lined up to buy it off you. Happy 2023.

When you got this car, I was hoping you would build it this way, when I was about ten, I was riding the tailgate of a flat black nomad on a gravel road, I was yelling “do a burnout “ he dumped the clutch and floored it, awesome! My mom was picking gravel out of my back for an hour because I was shirtless, they picked me up from swimming in the local pond. Can’t wait to see the car! Keep up the good work

Private property rights are sacred. You do as you please with what you have as you see fit, and to hell with the peanut gallery and their room temperature IQs. The thing that makes me happy is that you rescued it and brought it back to the land of the living. It's not gonna get crushed, shipped to Red China, and come back as paper clips and tuna fish cans. It's very cool that you are working on it again. I was worried that you had lost interest. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Hey Dan since you asked I'm happy to put in my two cents worth. I understand losing interest in a project it's happened to me plenty of times since I bought my first car back when a Georgia peanut farmer was POTUS. Note: I don't mind giving up my age I just thought that would make it more interesting. But I believe that the Nomad has the potential to be the one of the coolest cars on your Channel. And that's coming from a Ford guy.

Hey Dan if you put 2 inch lift horse shoes in the front and 2 inch ball joint spacers in the front it will give it the lift in the front without messing the suspension or steering up , if you don't like it you can unbolt the changes . But it gives 2 - 2 1/2 inches of lift in the front ,

Definitely a good idea to leave it looking 100% stock but make it a driver and enjoy it for a few weeks. Let someone else turn it into their vision of the perfect nomad and take it wherever they want when you sell it. I think you’ll be able to get enough money out of it if it presents nicely enough as a driver to be able to buy another project you don’t really need lol.

Long time lurker, first time commenter. This episode is kind of a let down. I was really really hoping that you wouldn’t loose sight of how it “appeared” when you first got it. The 50 year old Lace paint is what caught my attention. In my humble opinion, do it in a 60’s-70’s street freak look. Lace paint, freak dots, cob webbing, panel paint, candy’s & pearls. 4” CRAGERS up front, Daisy’s in the rear. Ladder bars, tunnel ram etc. metal flake dash, color tinted windows. Ohh what could’ve been.. Keep up the great work Dan. And Happy New Year🎉

You have an old soul. This was what hot rodding was for me in the mid 60’s. My 55 post was a roller, that I put a junkyard 283 with 3 on the tree in with a chain hoist under a big oak tree. Black magic rust repair bondo and dark gray primer from a rattle can. Jacked up in front, bumper of, and steelies with baby moons, Hoosier cheater slicks recapped in my Indiana hometown. Winter the slicks came off and recapped snow tires went on this everyday driver. Daily driver, no trailer queens. Custom Naugahyde seat covers were $100 (weeks bring home pay). Hurst floor shifter was $50. Keep going and doing it your way. It works.
