Always inspect your vehicle before a trip, good info Jeff. Bruno may take over that pillow! Beautiful cabin at the waterfall, and you are correct Jeff, running water sound can put you to sleep and after a certain age it can act as "a power of suggestion" with the old bladder 😳. Boy, I sure felt sorry for the Frontier owner. When I first saw the video tease I thought oh no, not Kendra's vehicle again!!! 🤕 Keep safe out there EA Team. Watch out for those trees Kendra!

Regular tire rotation and attention to correct psi (tire pressure) is essential.

Going out & looking at the tires tomorrow morning! Definitely got a spare & thankfully not the donut ones although any is great. And a waterproof case that has blankets, dried food, xtra clothes, fire starter ect...Folks laugh because many times I have back ups to my back ups 😁🤙 Thank you always. I so appreciate you all. ❣️

I was just looking into getting a spare tire for my Jeep Compass for this exact reason for our trip next month. I brought it last year and it didn’t have one but after watching Jeff and Kristen over the last 7 months I am learning a lot. I also got a dash cam and jump box as well. We missed Kristen this video. I doubt that insurance will pay to fix the car. I’m sure they’ll just mark the truck as damaged. Shame looks like a very nice truck. More importantly thank god no one was in the truck. I almost fell asleep watching the water fall. Another fantastic video

Another great video from the EA team - where was Kristen today? Good info on checking the whole way over your tyres - that van must have an issue at the back to wear the tyre like that! That truck owner was unlucky to get the tree come down on it, but glad he wasn't in it at the time! Good job getting it off his truck, stay safe out there!

Yeah, I think the "log through the dashboard" is going to decide this one...lots of importat mechanical, elecrical and computer stuff that moves it away from body-work to entire interiror dash assemblies. Would make a nice parts car at the junk yard, though! 😎

I was in the middle of a 3-week 4000mi trip and noticed my front tires looked like that. My Jeep immediately got 4 new tires and an alignment. Just got home 2:30 this morning. Thanks to the 2 shops in Bozeman, MT that took care of me last week!

I have done EXACTLY that to a pair of front tires. Looked great, but had belts showing at the inside. The front alignment was evenly off and it drove perfectly straight. 😂 Had to get all 4 replaced because I wanted LT tires instead of the P tires that it called for (2008 Toyota Tundra). Had to get a slightly larger size to get an LT.

A lot of people don’t realize that. Vehicles can drive perfectly fine and absolutely destroy tires. I’ve done alignments over 20 years now. It is by far the important factor when it comes to tires. Just the “toe” off by 5 ft per mile can wear a tire side off in no time.

Great safety check. Always check all 5 tires before a road trip or vacation. Smokey Mountains are a great place to visit. Gatlinburg is good except the parking issues. Just use the aquarium parking, while there. Pigeon forge has lots of free parking. Both has.more fun things to do the most people have time for.

We went on a scouting trip to check out cabins last time we were up there. One was near the area you were in. We come from very flat SE Louisiana. When we saw the steep roads in that area, we turned around, too afraid to even drive up those roads!!!!

Tire wear. My wife drives carefully and does not hit curbs. She has caught a few potholes. Needed a rear alignment because of slight wear. Now it won't get worse. 18,000 miles. Thanks for the reminder Jeff!

I’m learning a couple of things about the Gatlinburg area if I go there again: stay near downtown, pay for parking and don’t go driving down any of those one lane roads - and probably- just don’t driv3 ANYWHERE if it is, has or might rain! Some cars don’t even come with spare tires anymore. A lot of times spares are flat when they are needed due to never being checked, I try to check the air in my spare every time I change the oil.

A lot of new vehicles don’t come with a spare tires anymore. Our van when we bought it in 2018 brand new, didn’t come with a spare tire. Instead we got a can for flats that is supposed to seal the hole and inflate the tire.

We hit a deer in our 2020 crosstrek with about the same damage as the black truck. Replaced windshield , repaired top , replaced dash steering wheel, eyesight and stereo head unit. 12 K Glass everywhere. KEEP ON KEEPIN ON

A spare tire (full sized or compact) is a luxury nowadays with the car companies trying to save money and only equipping new cars with a tire inflator kit with chemical sealant. You have to pay extra for what was previously standard equipment.

The winch out at Waterfall Lane didn't take long, but it sure gave you a chance to show us that beautiful cabin with the waterfall. Thank goodness the people whose truck was crushed by that tree were not in the vehicle at the time the tree fell. Good job on getting the tree off the truck and towing the truck back to the lot. I have no idea what insurance will decide. With that one branch puncturing through the windshield into the dashboard, it is very possible the truck will be determined a total loss. I missed seeing Kristen, but I always enjoy the videos on this channel.

Hand to God this is the truth- as I'm watching this I'm texting back and forth to a tree service to have them remove a huge oak limb that collapsed in my yard. No damage (except to my wallet) here but i sure feel for the folks with that pickup. Glad they weren't going just a wee bit faster or that tree might have landed on the cab.

My last 2 new cars from 2017 & 18 did not have spare tires or jacks. But did have the foam spray to put in your flat. If it was a small leak you were ok till you could buy a new tire since the foam sealant is permanent. Both cars we bought the spare tire package on ebay.

I hope the authorities were called in to do a proper assessment of the hill. If it comes down, it could be disastrous for Gaitlinburg - power outages from the downed power lines, a significant drop of tourists visiting as Gaitlinburg would be cut off from the nearest major city Knoxville (?), traffic would have to be rerouted, emergency vehicles may not be able to respond quickly to emergencies on the other side of blockage, cancelled conventions and other events, etc.

Even before the covid vehicle shortage they were putting way too much work into vehicles. Our previous Nissan Sentra got rearended ... I thought it should have been totaled but somehow it didn't. It got a new roof skin, rear quarters and panel that goes over the doors, trunk floor, frame straightened, gas tank, fuel lines, exhaust, trunk lid, tai l lights. I thought for sure damage that went through to the roof skin would have been the end of it but they repaired it.

I'd say it will be declared totaled and the insurance company will pay book value minus the deductable. As for tires. there is a code that tells you the age of the tire on the sidewall. I just got back from a 5700 mile road trip/vacation that took me through Gatlinburg at one point. Got back to South Dakota and had the air checked in my tires. Found out my tires are 6 years old. But because I only put a couple thousand a year on them they look brand new, aside for age cracks.

Jeff in my opinion that truck is totalled not worth putting the money into fixing it since there could be frame damage that you don't see. I love the scenery you definitely have one of the best jobs in the world

If that smaller tree went through the dash and messed up all the wiring or air flow ducts, they will probably just total it out. That is a lot of work. Plus, you never get all the glasses micro pieces out of upholstery.

Jeff, I work in the automotive repair industry and to be honest...a lot of manufacturers are not including a spare with their vehicles lately. They claim it's weight savings for mileage for some odd reason. Heck even a lot of Ram 1500 pickups nowadays contain a freakin DONUT spare under the truck, there's plenty of room for a full sized spare but alas I digress. I'm just happy my 2017 Chevy Cruze contains a spare tire in the trunk.

Crazy how some new cars now days don't come with spare tires. They basically come with fixaflat and an inflator. I check when buys that it includes a spare or we got a lot of negotiations to do.

Rotating your tires on a 10-20K mile cycle can help with identifying tire wear as well.

Couldn't you have backed up to the tree from the side you were originally on, extended your boom out, hooked up and picked up the tree, and retracted your boom while cabling in to pull the tree forward and off the hood? May have had to move forware a time or 2 to reposition.
