Don't get me wrong, I like the bonus episodes -- but it just doesn't feel like a "Well there's you're problem" episode without a pinned comment of someone bitching about Chernobyl or Islam.

Oh, my god. I went to THAT Megatronix for drum lessons as a kid! That's fucking hilarious! Wasn't advertised (so heavily?) as a Megatronix when I went there 11 years ago, but the floor plan, balconies, glass panes and parking lot--I walked it all! Brother took lessons downstairs with some renowned local trumpet player while my drum teacher was like a proto-Qanon guy with a Cali beach-dude vibe who thankfully at least had the ability to learn what I needed to to get the fuck out of that building. Deep memory unlock.

Moving seamlessly from discussing a broken terrible van to yelling about being cut off at a sheetz by and then screaming at a politician to a brief diversion into local civil war history and then back to complaining about the local politics is one "go birds" away from being the most Pennsylvania series of sentences I've ever heard. god bless Liam.

I have finally journeyed to the hallowed homeland of the memes this podcast is made of. This is the hajj for those who seek a parasocial relationship with Liam. Except it's not controlled by the Saudis. Also Derisive Pennsylvania Laughter is the funniest thing to my sleep deprived brain because I am remembering Justin's reaction to the death of RBG in the 9/11 episode and this is a beautiful haunting thread linking the past to the further past and now to the future. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Oddly, the first car I got wasn't a hand-me-down van, but a salvage title used brown-goldish 1985 Honda Civic Wagon my dad bought on a whim in the fall of 1993 from some tiny ex-gas station corner used car lot. The date of purchase is of note 'cause we lived in Iowa and that was right after the big floods of '93, so there was a lot of suspect salvage title vehicles about. We suspect it spent the summer of '93 with its front end partially in floodwater and got a engine swap along with body work to hide the flood damage. It had had a mouse family living inside, nesting in the ducts, so it had the smell of rodent piss lingering about. That is, if you didn't turn the blower on. If you did, it was like the bottom of a unkempt hamster cage punched you in the nose. Dad fixed that by ripping every part of the air ducts, heater and AC core out to soak and scrub clean. Oh, and the air conditioning didn't work 'cause it wouldn't hold a refrigerant charge. Would have taken replacing all the AC piping to fix, which would have cost more than my dad paid for the car, so he never did. Made summer driving a sweaty trial. My mom thought my dad had been foolish in buying this car and my dad swiftly came around to agree with her, but it was bought "as-is," no returns, so we were stuck with it. It became my own daily driver in '97 or '98 when I got my driver's license. Drove it 'till 2002, when its brake lines gave out from rust, probably from a combo of the '93 floodwater and road salt. Thankfully this happened in the community college parking lot and not on a highway exit ramp. Saved the cost of towing it home by driving super-slow with the hazard blinkers on over the least hilly route and using the parking brake to stop. My dad sold it to a scrapper and I don't know what happened to it afterwards. Got a brand new 2003 Pontiac Vibe shortly after to replace it and I still drive that Vibe to this day. ...Damn, why did I write all this? I should have gone to bed, not blathered on and on about my automotive history. Gah, too late now.

My family used to have this kind of van, our tv actually worked and at some point we hooked up a gamecube to it to play super smash bros melee on the tiny ass screen from all the way in the back. Also fun story, the night before we were to go on a camping trip my brother went rummaging threw all the overhead compartments looking for something and left them all open. The next morning we pulled out of the driveway and when we turned to leave the fucking power converter we had stowed in the overhead fell corner first directly on top the center of my head, went to the hospital and got 2 staples. We finally left for that camping trip 2-3 hours later then expected

Regarding a states propensity for segregation a rule of thumb I use is how many Red Summer race massacres occurred in a particular state in 1919. Of sixty five documented events throughout the United States Pennsylvania had five, July 5th 1919 in Scranton, July 7th 1919 in Philadelphia, July 8th 1919 in Coatesville, July 23rd 1919 in Darby and July 31st 1919 in Philadelphia again. That's more than in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas, Louisiana or Alabama. Only Georgia and Florida had more. There were also race massacres in Chester in 1917 and Philadelphia in 1918, before the Red Summer began which maybe puts Pennsylvania beyond even Georgia. Technically Florida only comes out the worst because they just kept on going right through to 1923.

I had a '91 GM 1500 truck that was from a really fun era where GM was experimenting with the metric system so any given bolt on the entire truck could be in either system and there wasn't any rhyme or reason which one was used where. It was specifically called out in the factory service manual that it was never safe to assume what size bolt you'd be using. So I'm looking forward to the disaster of a '99 GM conversion van

Ironically, that image of the inside of the van reminds me of the van my parents bought when I was in elementary school and they finally got rid of when I was in middle school. It had fake wood paneling (it was actually plastic) on the inside. And I remember that there was a button that hung under the dash that we would have to hold in order to start the engine (it basically looked like a starter plug, but it had a big red button on one end). I don't know why that was, but probably my most vivid memory of that van and the starter button is from when my brother, dad, and me were camping when I was 11 and Dad couldn't get the van to start. He was fiddling with something under the hood and I was in the driver's seat and supposed to hold the button when he told me to. This went on for probably a good 10-15 min before I noticed that the keys weren't in the ignition, so I asked Dad if the keys had to be in the ignition for the van to start. Sure enough, once the key was in the ignition and turned to the "on" position, the van started right up when I held the button. I think Mom traded it in for a Chevy Suburban. I think it was a GM van and it was blue. But that's about all I know about the van. Oh. It definitely didn't have a TV or anything like that inside it. The windows in the back were heavily tinted and I remember thinking they were probably plastic instead of glass. If I were to guess, it was probably made in the late 80s or early 90s.
