How to Create Blonde Highlights with James Earnshaw | Wella Professionals

Be inspired by Wella Digital Ambassador James Earnshaw as he creates solid lites, a brand new take on 90's chunky blonde highlights. Follow him through the technique and discover how he works in diagonal sections further away from the roots, with Koleston Perfect, to create a more lived in look for the model. Follow the step-by-step tutorial below to create a perfect take on blonde highlights for your client. Discover the formulas, products used and steps below.
Step 1
Start in the front with diagonal slices on the side. Apply slightly off the root for a lived-in feel.
Step 2
Continue to the top triangle when both sides are done.
Step 3
Start applying the base color at the roots in the back section. Apply the color to mid-lengths and ends and continue applying in the front between the foils.
Step 4
After development, time rinse and apply WellaPlex N°2. Use Fusion Shampoo and massage through the hair and apply Blondor Seal & Care.
Step 5
Apply the glossing on towel dry hair and target the lightened areas with your glossing first. After development time rinse, blowdry and style the hair.

Lightening:
30g BlondorPlex + 45g Welloxon Perfect 6%
Base color:
Koleston Perfect 30g 5/2 + 15g 7/18 + 1.9%
Glossing:
Koleston Perfect 10g 10/96 + 10g 9/81 + 20g 1.9% + 20g INVIGO Post Color Treatment

Sooo I have a question because I want to execute this. Did you leave space in the between the front foils/ face frame. No back to back right?

Just a question, why use a permanent color to the hair around the foils ? Had she any gray or do u wanted ro lift it ?

It was mixed with 1.9% as a glossing so effectively made it into a demi permanent 😀
