Dearest Lydia, OMG your hair is amazingly beautiful. I say this after 38 years of being a hairdresser. When I was working before I went out on my own and started my Beauty Business. Because my Mom said after of course I went to College for everything. Just to come back to beauty. She is not with us now sadly I. Is her so. UCB. She told me I used to take my Barbie dolls,Midge dolls,I never had a Ken or male doll. I world s ask in the kitchen grab the food coloring and color my Barbies hair all kinds of Cz colors. I was way ahead of the Bright dolls. I also used to cut and style them at the age I was I was not aware it did not grow back so this meant my Parents would have to replace my Dollies.I started Cosmetology School in the late 70’s then became pregnant and I had to quit because I had a hard pregnancy. Yet I. Ea t that just as soon as I could I would go back and finish the last 5 months. So in 1984 I did just that. It was hard with a little one. Yet I did it and Made on my State Boards 100% on the written part and a 99% score on the practical part. I was docked 1 point for not supposedly rinsing long enough. I specialized in Hair color mainly blondes,hair extensions,and wigs or hair PCs. Then went on to another School for Makeup Artistry. I love it all still due. I am definitely going to,try your method.Since I messed up my Rotator Cuff. I had to stop working everyday you would be an awesome stylist. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and methods with us. 🌹🌹🌹

I bought a box from Superdrug and did a few highlights at the front - It's really great for naturally dark blonde hair, I always use the Pro-Voke Touch Of Silver Brightening Shampoo afterwards to tone down any brassiness. Thanks, Lydia!

Tried this method 5 months ago and never had highlights before. It turned out great and people ask me if a hairdresser did it. Highly recommend this method! At first I tried the to get a highlight cap on, did not work so went with this method; I'm glad that I did :) Going to do this again tomorrow.

This is a pretty good technique and these box highlighting kits are very gentle and fool proof. These kits are designed to not damage your hair too much and are self toning this is why your hair is in good condition. But, this technique is difficult for doing the back and I only see where you done the front. Turned out very nice.
@theoneandonlypinky6663 жыл бұрын
Gentle, really? I am used professional bleach with developer, my hair was a little dry, but it was still ok for bleached hair. Once I wanted to bleach my hair, but I had no powder at home, bought a kit at the drugstore. It broke 50% of my hair on the top and on the right side, it was 1 cm... This was in may, last year. Since then I used Blondme bleach, and finally cut my hair, it is collarbone length. With the Blondme and 4,5 % peroxide my hair is not dry, i even can comb it trough without conditioner or anything when wet. Drugstore kits are known to be harsh, because they can't be 'customized'. They need to work on a wide range of natural colors.
@lpg85183 жыл бұрын
@@theoneandonlypinky666 Do you suppose maybe your hair broke off because you had already done too much to it? I bleached my hair 6 times in one month and went to a salon to have low lights, half of it broke off. I was going to blame the salon but then I remembered that I had already pushed it beyond the limit LOL!!

Gentle?? I ordered it had to fly it from Glasgow to Auckland New Zealand where we are in lock down. i wore gloves to protect my skin. It took me 15 mins to put in my hair. then i waited 35 mins. then had shower. it worked well but i didn't leave it on long enough in some sections so bits were yellow not blonde. and i used normal shampoo twice, normal conditioner once, then i did a purple loreal mask for 20 mins, then i did purple shampoo and purple conditioner. Must not get in your eyes or on surfaces so put lots of old rags down. was nice to change my re growth to a lighter colour :)

@melodiehaylett94533 жыл бұрын
You most likely need a toner... a good purple shampoo might do the trick though, my personal favourite is fanola no yellow shampoo, if you leave that on for between 5 - 15 minutes depending on how orange/yellow your hair has gone that normally helps a lot. If you want one to just get in the drugstore though then look for one that says extra strength etc. To properly knock out the orange/yellow :)

Whilst I ❤ your DIY hair, can you please wear gloves so you’re not burning into your fingers and allowing that poison into your bloodstream?
